Normal spawners suck when making maps, if they implement a spawners tab in creative, it would have normal spawners that cannot have a customized rage, delay, entity, etc.
I play Minecraft on my Xbox 360 in 1.0.1 and even if you mine a Spawner with a Silk Touch Pickaxe you will get about 2 XP but no Spawner. I hope someone will do something about this... and soon.
This is intended. They'd be too OP in survival. This discussion is about Creative.
If they do this, then they should add an in game NBT editor. That would make things way easier. No more needing a million third party programs to make what you want.

I don't think they should use their time with it. We already have MCEDIT, which is a powerful world editor and can be a good NBTEditor. I'm fine with third party programs.
EDIT: Maybe after they get more important stuff done, like lighting/rendering engine tweaks and maybe the API.
Unless it Op only not.If they as said before idiots or trolls can make mass griefing with creative servers(teleporting in huge away locations, making huge amounts of spawners for lag/griefing).
It would be cool if in lets say the misc section of creative you had every type of mob spawner and maybe with a new Interface you could customize the spawner without having to use NBT editor, but I don't think they will ever make it like that
I think in the creative inventory there should be a row of spawners with default settings but mobs other than pigs. To change other NBT tags, you should use MC edit
Yeah; but instead of making a row of different spawners, they should just give you a "monster spawner" and when you place it, you could set the mob inside, like with signs.
No spawners in survival! If they added that than people would have WAY to much XP! It would be ridiculous. I think that it is more fun to find a dungeon and find them, THAN you can make your XP farm!
Perhaps, maybe just adding a spawner, then taking the "monster spawn egg", and right clicking the spawner with the egg, to change the type.
That is exactly how I would do it. It would be great if you could also change the subtype of mob by right-clicking the spawner with additional items. That way, you could edit everything from the types of weapons and armor the zombies and skeletons are holding to the type of villager the spawner contains.

Maybe implement them in C Inv with GUI that only pops up in CREATIVE mode, that lets you change its options and can only be changed afterwards by th person who placed it

Um, I thought they removed the far land like 2 years ago...
