Since I doubt Mojang will return bonemeal back to it's former power I think there should be a way to craft better bonemeal that will insta grow crops. The recipe idea so far would be Bone + Raw Fish = (insta grow bonemeal AKA don't have a name for it). Or if you want to really get complicated maybe Bone + Raw Fish + Egg = The special bonemeal. The egg may sound strange though. Crafting this would give 3 of the special bonemeal.

No, Bone meal has been WAY too overpowered for too dang long. You could insta grow food. It took all the difficulty away from finding food in a hurry.

Finding food never was really difficult, but now its only nerfed a little, unless you're hardcore vegan you can still get meat from animals

you can still insta grow crops with bonemeal - you just have to click it 7 times now, instead of once. if clicking 7 times is too much for you, there are already automatic wheat farm tutorials out there that have dispensers that hit the wheat with 7 bonemeal off of one button push.

Not everything in the game has to be optional. Even a game like minecraft needs rules; and this rule is great. If you could carve a decent argument for why tools shouldn't have durability then I may be inclined to agree that the balancing of wheat was superfluous. But I don't think anyone could convince me tools should be impervious to wear. Not even Henry Kissinger.

Yeah, and getting Bones in the first place is just a walk in the park. With all the AI changes, and buffs to mobs, you've got to be either joking, or a hardcore survival nut who wants Minecraft to become about surviving instead of thriving.

Getting bones is easy to get imo but the real problem is the bonemeal nerf will be a major annoyance and not really something challenging(in a fun way). Also that last part about hardcore survival nut is kind of exaggerated.

Starvation still IS part of the game. And you do need to put effort into it, putting your life on the line killing skellies to get 1 or maybe 2 breads. And its balanced because nobody PREFERS this. You can just spawn wheat over and over but then you aren't mining!
It still takes effort, and even WITH this, I've CONSTANTLY found myself eating zombies to survive, hoping to get some bones to make bread before I can get something self sustaining going. Its not like this makes you spawn with it, it still takes at least SOME work.

But now, I can't see this happening.
The whole argument for balance only works for people who HAVE enough stuff to begin with. Starting out with nothing, this argument falls apart, since getting the kills for skeletons with no armor, a stone sword is very much earning the food.
Now when we discussing better way to "fix" bonemeal, I suggest my own invention:

Thanks to this not only we could get a new cool machine in our house, new item to use our iron. we could grind some other things for better potions!
So first you have to have iron to process to easier era. Imo minecraft needs a lot more machines/ new crafting benches to check what materials you have now.
It sounds to me like you want to nerf food in general... ...WHY?
This was just a part of my plan. You need better stuff to do better foods. That logical. You have to work more if you want better food.
INow when you have chickens, pumpkins and reeds you don't need any more food.

The actual benefit differences between foods is how much they fill, THAT'S IT. And just because people have more options, doesn't mean for every new option there is, there's now a new chest of food. It still takes time to make anything. I think having cooked pork give only 3 hunger would anger SO many people, badly. And when did you decide that food, which is something people need to do absolutely ANYTHING needs to be nerfed?

But notice one- you always get 4 meat from pig/cow animal on my picture. That means one animal heals 12 full hearts. This is actualy better than now

Ever tried to survive on cookies? Its a pain in the ****. Every minute or so you need to gobble one down to stay in the regen amount, and after a while needing to drop everything you are doing to eat something gets annoying.
I'd like to see Bones + rotten flesh make a single bonemeal. One would grow a tree, and two would grow any crop to 100%.
Why the heck would a tree grow easier than a small plant? I've been everything short of BEGGING to figure out why people think GIANT trees should grow easier than TINY crops, and nobody has explained this @_@ what in notches name am I missing here?!!?!

I realize this, especially considering I was the one who tweeted him about it and got the response. I just wish to know what I asked above : Why people think trees should be easier to make than wheat. I'm at a loss for words why people would think this. And its not just in that one guys post, its in the poll too.
Keep current bonemeal, but add compost which needs bonemeal, rotten flesh, and 3 shrubs (or flowers or leaf blocks) which can be used on the ground (before you put seeds down) to make crops chances to grow a stage higher.
