This is the first I've played 1.3 and WoW! It's freakin' awesome. Just when I think MC can't get much better, it gets a whole lot better!
Everything about it is excellent. My favorites are:
1. Large Biomes - been wanting this awhile and I couldn't be happier about it. It always bummed me out how close everything was and I like the fact we have to use and travel to more of the MC world, which is like 5 times the size of Earth, so it's been getting pretty un-used.
2. New Structures - I never tire of having new structures in this game - it really opens up the world to exploration and discovery.
3. The XP for mining and creation! Didn't even know that was a feature but I'm so happy about it. I like mining and creating and just hunting(or pots) was getting weary. Plus, the lowered XP needed.
4. The matching wood slabs. Been achin' for 'em. I know. Small detail, but I love it.
5. Emeralds, of course.
Every one of the new features are wonderful. I dig the new gravel(actually kind've liking gravel is refreshing!) I do wonder how that has affected folk's pixel art, but I like the change. Eager to trade with the villagers. SO thankful for the ability to switch gamemode in survival. (I like to fly around my areas after initially discovering, so that is really a favorite too) The cocoa pods are sweet and add a great touch to the jungle.
Basically, you've outdone yourselves and I give a billion kudos to Jeb and Notch and everyone else involved with this epic update!!! THANK YOU!
I don't trade much, but yes.. 1.3 is amazing. I can't wait for 1.4 though, not just for the API, but the lighting fixes and all the new crap that @Dinnerbone keeps inciting us with. <3 da Mojang

The Large Biomes feature is a nice addition, but I don't use it: I always spawn in a jungle biome and spend hours looking for oak forests.
I like the new structures, specially the desert temple: I always avoid it's traps and get some very valuable items.
I love the XP while mining and stuff: Helps me to be able to enchant my items faster.
I have never found an emerald ore, ever. They're so rare. Then you pay 7 emeralds for some goddamn cookies. I don't like it.

Find some deep caves in an extreme hills area. Explore those enough and you WILL find some. Seems to be how it works, anyway. I cant seem to enter a cave in that region type WITHOUT finding some.
Though yes, the trading prices need some tweaking. If I'm gonna pay an emerald for cookies, that's fine, but the current rate of 1 emerald = about 8 cookies is silly. 1 for a STACK would make more sense.
And as for the OP, good to see someone ENJOYING the new stuffs instead of going "ZOMG THERES LIKE A TEMPLE IN THE DESERT NOW THE END TIMES ARE UPON US I BETTER GO BACK TO EARLY ALPHA WHEN THE GAME DIDNT SUCK WHEEEE RUN-ON SENTENCE!!!!111"

And the next update will surpass this one. Frames (mountable maps and clocks,) flower pots, map zooming and copying, possibly villager pigmen in nether, entities traveling through portals, stone walls, etc.

lol.. you had some bad luck with the biomes. Some good extreme hills try '4204ever' or 'Creeper's Revenge' as seed. For some mooshroomage, try 'mute'. Also, emeralds are only found in extreme hills.
Wow holyshit am i going insane or did he actually LIKE THE UPDATE.
I really hate how people can't stand the updates cmon if minecraft didn't change it would get so ****ing boring but i really do hate the LAN update its so useless and its annoying having that ******** lag.

I think the reason why it seems so many people are negative is just that the negative ones are the most vocal, despite that they're actually the minority. The POSITIVE ones are.... off playing Minecraft, instead of screaming about it

I agree, 1.3 is an amazing update. I love all the new features, especially the new XP from mining, and of course, emeralds.
Cats.

Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
