People can whine all they want, it most likely won't get reverted, and if you just quit, unless you have a bootleged copy it doesn't affect mojang considering you have already bought the game
MC is running - or at last trying to run - with 4GB of memory allocated. And it has his very own disc partition with the 150 gig swap file. And it's ~15 fps all day, erry day.
And it must be frikkin' smart virus, if it's able to distinguish between calling for launch JRE to stack and deconvolute some seismic data and then being completely quiet, and calling for launch JRE for placing some blocks and punch zombiepigmen in they ugly snouts and the jumps out and causing lag, chunk errors and server crashes.
Frikkin' smart, indeed.
Are you sure you have a virus? Try checking your devices, Some of it might be outdated. I run minecraft in 2 GB Allocated (If lag advances til' next update, I'll switch it to 4 GB or 8 GB *Evil Laugh*) P.S I have a 16 GB RAM That's why its not that laggy for me.
I have a '03 dell laptop with an integrated graphics card. I can run minecraft 1.3.1 perfectly fine, yea sure sometimes i have to switch between normal distance and short distance, but i still had to do that in 1.2.5. There's not that big of a difference with the lag whether on 1.2.5 or 1.3.1. That just means you don't take very good care of your computer and should probably clean it up and take better care of it. That OR get a better internet connection if you're lagging that bad on a multiplayer server.
I'm sorry but this is retarded. What's with the hate for 1.3.1? IT'S A FREAKING UPDATE.
More like a Downdate. Seriously, the features are barely worth mentioning, and the bugs are super annoying.
It's true that Mojang isn't obligated to produce non-sucky updates, or any updates at all. But if they give me a piece of ****, I'm not going to pretend it's chocolate chip cookies.
And don't give me that crap about how it's going to get better. I AM NOT A BETA TESTER!

I think you are going to love my Survival Let's Play series on YouTube! It's called Spaceboot1's Garden. I make pretty things.

I think most of the people that are pissed about the 1.3 lag/bugs are those of us with extremely fast computers. Minecraft now has absolutely nothing to offer the high end pc gamers.
Now, is true that Mojang made fixes. Maybe they increase speed by unchanging the GPU, but that was contrasted with the merge. Why I have reasons to think that, because Exalm made (and he posted in this thread) and SSP mod to 1.3.1, I launch Minecraft with that, and all the lag, was gone, and I could run Minecraft faster, like 35 fps was more common, and still in 30 fps, way faster to me, because in 1.2.5 i'd get like 25.
This thread isn't going anywhere.
1: You can whine here as much as you want, barely anyone here will care about it enough to actually think about it and leave a proper comment. No developer will ever notice this thread and it's complaints anyways.
2: If you don't like it don't play it or accept the SSP lag. It can't be fixed anyways, there will ever be a small delay, that's why there is no SMP server without any delay. If there was, SSP wouldn't even have a delay.
3: If you have a good computer and still have FPS issues, use Google to try to find a fix for it. Even my PC can run the game at 300+ FPS constantly, and it isn't even that good. And the RAM stuff is ********. I have less than 1GB RAM assigned to Java and still don't have any lag.
It doesn't matter if a few people don't like an update if the majority (obviously) likes it. Also, I don't have any bugs which are harming the gameplay in any way, so I can get around with it. I barely have any lag due to the merge, nor does my game crash or anything like that.
^This.
The problem is obviously on your side.
Use 64bit Java to play with far.
What do you mean with water updates too slow to move mobs effectively?
It's rendering just as many blocks/entities as prior to the merge.
Mojang is just a small company with like 5 people who actually have the time to find bugs here and there. It's nothing like Valve where there are hundreds of developers or game testers caught in a huge building. Mojang needs the community to find out about those bugs. Would you rather have them test the game or actually add stuff onto it?
1: We can whine how much we care. This post obviously isn't suggesting nothing. Is just criticizing the actual update. Also, a developer (a modder) notice this post, watch the first page.
2: Again, not suggesting nothing. And SMP have several more lag than SSP, that's the problem.
3: Many of the people who tell about have a good specs say that 1.2.5 runs better.
Also, you don't know nothing about the majority. Nobody knows. The forum is just a really small part of the community.
And Mojang have a HUGE community + posting snapshots, you can have great feedback and bug finding.
These threads are fun to read, while I disagree 1.3.1 is not a joke its more just another step in becoming a better game then it once was, some things go and some things stay. With today's games either on console or PC are being twinked for better performence or a bug is hinding something. I just say before you guys do call it a joke or stop updating I suggest take a chill pill and give it time, because unlike some games I know minecraft will still be updating for sometime now and I dont see it stoping. Heck I be suprise if notch cam back added another years worth of additions to the game add and making it like A Whole New Game!? JUst if it time is like a toddler right now its no where near ending this life at this point in time.

i have understand you perfectly. Is true, but is just whining like when 1.8came,etc people is just finding people with the same opinioln or that say something about it
I experience only minor bugs with this update, and a general performance increase. I'd guess that the problem is that some hardware or software that is used in a significant amount of computers must not gel with something that Mojang changed about Minecraft. That happens. Sometimes computers just aren't compatible with programs. Big companies issue variations or make very clear what the requirements are for a smooth experience. They can only do this because they're big companies full of testers and programmers.
Obviously this sucks and seems like a horrible update for people that are negatively impacted. Not much I can do about that but offer sympathy. Minecraft needed this update.

Make note: I generally avoid being insulting. If I sound insulting, I'm probably joking.
Exactly. MC update 1.3.1 is all "Bahahahah" and "Bahahahah" only.
Unfortunately, it's not the people which PAID for the game are laughing. And personaly, I think that good update from decent company should include a little more that just "Bahahahah".
Really? I recall laughing after getting an update that runs several orders of magnitude greater than 1.2.5 on Wednesday. I've even tried generating new terrain and I literally notice no difference in my SSP with this update.
I honestly do not see any of the problems you guys are having for 1.3. The only issue I am currently seeing is not really Mojang's fault. Bukkit, a set of community built, open source tools for SMP Plug-ins, is currently experiencing a huge rate of bugs and it's really a mess. Mainly due to the fact that so many servers rely on Bukkit. The Bukkit team is currently attempting to eradicate all bugs from there software, but it has really taken a toll on many servers. But I currently do not see how Mojang messed up 1.3, I actually think it is a step in the right direction.
I'm lazy to edit so just add the word ''better'' in between ''over'' and ''multiplayer''
The point of most of us is that in 1.2.5 we got good framerate, and just with 1.3 went down, computers dont become **** in 1 day.
1.2.5: 80 fps outside, 80 fps in caves, 120 in closed nether rails, 50 in normal nether
1.3: 60 fps outside, 130 fps in caves, 160 in closed nether rails, 60 in normal nether
I think 1.3 is awesome, fps is ok, but mobs are buggier than in 1.2.5, and i dont want to show off, but i could kill an enderman with an iron sword without being hit, now is just almost impossible even in ssp.
While I have noticed a slight increase in annoying bugs (particularly relating to mob behavior and of course the infamous lighting bugs), and I notice chunks loading slower like they did in SMP before, I have experienced no significant decrease in performance (I don't know what kind of FPS I got with 1.2.5 because I never bothered to look, but I just booted it up and measured 60-70FPS on average outside in the rain). I have a decent computer (8gigs RAM, NVIDIA GTX 460 video card) so I don't doubt it may run slower on older computers, but I can't explain why even some good computers are running Minecraft so poorly now. Fact is, some people are experiencing problems, but that doesn't mean everybody is. I personally love this update, I think the new features are the best we've gotten since Beta 1.8 (yes, even better than the official release), and the slight increase in annoying but not game-breaking bugs doesn't bother me. I definitely am sorry for all of those who have experienced major problems. It sucks that they can't play it. But I certainly wouldn't call this update "broken". Also, I do think that some people should invest in updating their computers. The fact that you can actually play a fun modern game with such old machines is impressive. 90% of all modern games couldn't run on some of your guys' computers, and if upgrade your computer now or soon it will serve you well for 5+ years, especially if you don't routinely buy new games or use it to run memory-intensive software. Trust me, it's an upgrade worth investing in. And yes, I do realize it's not realistic for some people.
Also like it or not, the SSP/SMP merge has made things significantly easier to code and update for Mojang, and while maybe they could've done more to fix bugs and improve performance before the update, this merge should make it easier to do so in the future. I think given some more time, Minecraft could ultimately end up being a fairly stable game. The potential is definitely there. Minecraft will never be perfectly stable, especially considering that it runs on Java, but they're making progress towards that goal. Maybe having an update that caused so many problems for so many people will even push them to discover and fix the roots of some of the stability issues faster!
More like a Downdate. Seriously, the features are barely worth mentioning, and the bugs are super annoying.

Emeralds
2 golden apples
Ender chests
Trading
Enchanting improvements
Jungle AND Desert Temples
Coca Plants
My favorite of them, Book and Quills
AND. MORE.
DOWNGRADE? Really? THAT IS THE DOWNGRADE? THEY ADDED HOW MANY THINGS? And you say it's a downgrade. Are you an idiot? THEY ADDED THAT.
Think before you speak in reality.
Oh, and some bonus TOP-SECRET INFO: YOU CAN FIX BUGS!
I logged into the forums after a long time today JUST to see if there going to be threads like this. What ya know, I wasn't dissapointed! Anyways, like with every update, issues like these are temporary and will be fixed eventually. Just be patient and your problems will be resolved so once again you can enjoy another update of Minecraft. I honestly fail to see why would you post a thread like this, what's the point?
GUYS SHUT THE **** UP ABOUT HOW "HORRIBLE" 1.3 WAS! It is fine! I have not have any issues and the issues you guys are probably having are due to a horrible computer and low internet connection. I just can't believe how many threads there are saying the sane god damn thing!
You might as well insult Mojang for all its worth! THREE ****ING MONTHS wereput into this update! The team added hundreds of features. Just quit Minecraft. No one want cunts like you insulting their hard work...
Rage Over
You do realize all of these bugs will be fixed in 1.3.2 or 1.4. Just quit whining about it.

*sigh* You obviously haven't thought much about your post before you clicked the post button.
First off, 1.3 is not fine for everyone, many people are having issues with latency and FPS drops and poor FPS in general. This is NOT, I repeat NOT the fault of hardware, connections or anything like that, the problem is solely in Minecraft. Minecraft uses a lot of resources which decreases the FPS a lot and the new SSP-SMP merge made single player use an internal server to function on which introduced the latency problems from SMP. I agree plenty of these threads are garbage but some do have an ounce of truth thus they deserve to be posted. Besides, the whole point of a forum is to share your opinion. Sure, some people are idiots and their opinions make you want to jump of a bridge onto concrete, but they're still entitled to their opinion and it's highly rude to tell them to stfu.
Secondly, yes three months went into this update but that doesn't mean it was enough and that they don't deserve constructive criticism. If you read the forums a bit, you'll see plenty of issues introduced with this update. For that Mojang does indeed deserve constructive criticism (not hate of course, if you can differ the two). And don't get me started on the last paragraph of your post, that was unecessary and simply idiotic.
tl;dr: Put more thoughts in your posts before you click the Post button. Also inform yourself better before saying incorrect information.
