First are you typing ipconfig /dnsflush
also what operating system are you using
To flush DNS cache in Microsoft Windows (Win XP, Win ME, Win 2000):-
- Start -> Run -> type cmd
- in command prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns
- Done! You Window DNS cache has just been flush.
To flush the DNS cache in Linux, restart the nscd daemon:-
- To restart the nscd daemon, type /etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd restart in your terminal
- Once you run the command your linux DNS cache will flush.
To flush the DNS cache in Mac OS X Leopard:-
- type lookupd -flushcache in your terminal to flush the DNS resolver cache.
ex: bash-2.05a$ lookupd -flushcache
- Once you run the command your DNS cache (in Mac OS X) will flush.
To flush the DNS cache in Mac OS X:-
- type dscacheutil -flushcache in your terminal to flush the DNS resolver cache.
ex: bash-2.05a$ dscacheutil -flushcache
- Once you run the command your DNS cache (in Mac OS X Leopard) will flush.
A pretty major bug: I accidentaly downgraded to 1.2.5 and opened my save. When i upgraded to 12w26a again, most of the wooden half slabs Ive placed in the world are gone.
not a bug. you down graded, removing any content that came after 1.2.5 when you opened the world. you prolly pressed save and quit when you exited the world to go back to 12w26a, saving the world with the emty spaces.
I know cause I did the same Friggan thing and some of my roofs are gone along with 2 bridges over the ravine.

Yes, having a map from a higher version then downgrading does generally remove stuff you had. If you had already found extreme mountains, then there'll be gaps in the rock where the emerald ore was...

once you "save and exit" all emty spaces will be saved even if you reinstall a later version with said blocks. the only solution is load a backup if you had one or replace blocks by hand.

I'm guessing you've already figured out how to install 12w27a, but if you haven't, don't install it like a mod. Remove the minecraft.jar that is currently in the bin folder and put the snapshot in its place, instead of altering the .jar folder interior files. That made it work for me.

I've been a Minecraft player since Beta 1.7, still my favorite game!

i never installed a mod so I would not know what opening it like a mod means. for as log as the snapshots were coming out, I used 7zip to open up the minecraft jar, then open a second 7zip window with the snapshot. then I would choose "select all" on the snapshot, then drag the contents over to the .jar window to overwrite it with the snapshot. it worked every time, no errors or crashes. this 12w27a snapshot was the first time that I had this problem.
dinnerbone said to just rightclick the link, choose "save as" ( my comp says "save target as") and then browes to the .jar exept my comp only showed the native folder and nothing else. he then said to type in the field "minecraft.jar". I tried that a thousand times and it would not work. then he put notices everywhere telling people to not do it the way I did to avoid crashes. I tried it again and suddenly, working. I thimk DB may have tweaked something...

Don't do this. This is very bad. You want to completely replace minecraft.jar with the new one. If you are using a file compression program like 7zip, then you are doing it wrong. Overwriting files in the jar rather than replacing the entire could leave behind harmful garbage from a previous build which would interfere with the new build. If you had mods installed, everything would break for sure too.
when I sad overwrite, I meant that I delete the .jar before i drag the snapshot over.
like I said all you people saying don't do that, I already got the point from DB so I don't need any parrots.
and IT WORKED WITH NO PROBLEM UP TO THIS SNAPSOT , its prolly bedcause of some tweak. when I look inside the old snaps I don't even see the aux.class file in any of them but its in 12w27a and thats what the error keeps referencing. when I go back and reinstall old snaps I do it the old way and it still works. It only doesnt work (for me) when I do it with 12w27a.
telling me that it dont work that way and is "very bad" when it has worked all this time without problems makes no sense.

Sorry, I was just trying to help you out. I didn't only say it was bad, I explained why it didn't work when doing it that way. See you could have been lucky all this time because all the files inside the original jar may have been overwrite, but with 12w27a, that may not have been the case. If this doesn't help you, then perhaps it will help someone else with the same problem.
I have alot not being able to place blocks
not being able to do lan servers
in a village at night I saw a zombie destroying a door and it had saved it being destroyd with marks in it even when I destroyed
it and placed it back
one day I was watching my brother play on the snapshot in survival and water was hurting him
to peoples with the problem of aux.class, i have it too. i tried many ways (if not all) to clone it. i used wordpad to copy back but nothing seems to solves it. it says thaqt aux.class is a windows reserved file or something like that.
My roommate and I are having a lan World issue, and I already check the link to the lan issues thread from a few pages back, doesn't help with our problem.
Edit: We are using Snapshot 12w37a
Ok so the problem is: earlier today, like 2 hours ago, we were playing on a Lan world I created on my laptop, worked just fine, now all of a sudden whenever either one of creates a new world, or uses an old world (the one we were playing on before) it won't show up in the lan world search, so now we cant play together, we have tried re-downloading the snapshot .jar and re-downloading minecraft, even after all that starting completely fresh, we can not play together on lan anymore. My roommates computer is less then 6 feet away from mine, kinda kitty corner.

Install it like a mod? It comes in its own .jar, not a .zip with a few class files you put in. But, whatever, lol.
