I like it, but it would be better (IMO) if the ore textures all shared the coal and diamond pixel formation in the picture, or, like you might be doing already, just tweak the existing textures a bit. The existing textures do look alright though if not just a tad bit too exposed.
Well I didn't give them all the same textures because they are not all ores.
Diamonds are gems, as is lapis. Gold, and Iron come in veins, and coal is similar to diamonds. Forming in chunks, versus veins.
So to make it "true" to the different mineables I switched up the textures. Also, I don't like having the same 16 pixels flashed at me all the time I am still working on the ores, they need to be able to tile with each other.
Topically, I do not play on hardcore mode for the very reason of zombies breaking doors. Soon as the api is released (1.4 I know) I will remove that ability, along with the griefer--er creepers.
I am kinda hoping it is, adds some realism to the game and a reason to use more wood! --I know I know, I don't want them breaking doors down, which would be "realistic" as well. The only reason I don't want this is:
I leave my server up 24/7 and am usually logged in. Nothing is worse than coming back to my dead character, in his own home. The respawn menu is not monitor (as in computer screen) friendly, like a nice senic skyline.
My suggestions as to door-breaking: (If anyone cares to hear them)
1. Zombies only target doors IF there is someone (Player/NPC) on the other side that can be seen through a transparent block or the door itself.
2. Breaking the door is similar to breaking a boat. The door drops sticks and planks.
4. If the door is not broken, the damage and cracks remain, requiring you to repair the door by breaking it off and putting it back up. Also, you forgot to read suggestion #3.
5. You checked and saw there was no #3.

Another bug I noticed in the snapshot 12w26a is that zombies sometimes can reach door 1 block away. I have a mob tube, and the door is 1 block apart from it, but zombies in the tube sometimes hit that door even though they are far away.
