I was watching a Docm77 video and he said that Dinnerbone tweeted about maybe having mobs spawn on Half Slabs. Has anyone else seen the tweet? I really hope he doesn't...haha.
He starts talking about it at 24:37. So, what do you think?

I'm just glad to can finally place things on top of upside-down blocks. I've used upside-down half slabs as flooring for a house but wasn't able to place a bed. This also adds the benefit of being able to make somewhat insulated redstone and vertical buses without the need of glowstone.

God I hope not. There needs to be a way to keep mobs from spawning without having to spam torches everywhere. If anything they should add other ways to prevent mobs spawning.

This still means we have to go round putting torches on half slab roofs etc, in places monsters would not spawn. If they were to provide us with a roofing block, such as a thatch or something, perhaps made from reeds or similar and just have it standing on it breaks it, but mobs wont spawn / walk on it. It could also then be used for traps and such where you could put sand / gravel on top and a block update could have it fall etc.
It would be an annoying change, and would upset a lot of people.
It doesn't make sense as to why they don't currently spawn on half slabs. I'm fine with mobs spawning on them. It's a bit cheap that they don't.
It's not exactly difficult or expensive to throw some torches down wherever you were putting slabs. It's just an eyesore. ie, something that doesn't actually effect balance and that we shouldn't be forced into.

Torches on roofs--or anything else cosmetic, for that matter--don't have to be an eye sore. There are ways of creating functional and attractive lighting on roofs.

Hah.
... Glass?
Or play on Peaceful.
I believe it will be top slabs that mobs spawn on, not the bottom ones.
