I don't think you understand... The Eye of Ender already leads straight to the portal room.
In the game as it is now, there is no reason to explore the "labyrinth".
it never knew that
when i used it took me to a cave and i found the entrance to the stronghold and spent like 30 minutes searching for it
i read that wrong
i agree with everything exepct the silver fish idea there should be a bedrock case around the portal room and the only way in is a speacial door that can only be opend by killing a mini boss (like a silver fish queen)
The current strongholds in the game are pretty horrible, they really need an update. I'm going to list all the problems I have with them.
Ever since 1.2, around half the doors are already open. I think it's just a bug though ever since they updated doors.
I believe it's because zombies spawn in them and break the doors open. At least that's what happened in the last stronghold I found since the zombie siege patch which was introduced in 1.2.

I know Zombies break them down. I mean doors are still there, but already open once you go in.
I agree.
And with the doors, yes, most get broken down, and I know what you mean about them being open because I notice the iron doors are open when the button ISN'T pressed.
That's strange.
Also, I would love seeing written books in the stronghold libraries.
I mean, who wouldn't love to find some record of previous inhabitants?
THAT would be an adventure.
The reason the portal doesn't always spawn is because the beginning of stronghold spawn is a stair set and the rest of the rooms are random spawn, so it can be overrode. They should really change this..
Eyes of Ender take you right over the portal room. I would enjoy it more if they just led you to the entrance to the stronghold. Because now you just dig straight down and you're in the portal room and don't need to explore at all. Strongholds could have been like a maze.
This used to be the way, but they changed it so it isn't so hard for players.
I agree.

Wooden doors and Iron doors both spawn open a lot. And zombies break half of them down... I also would LOVE to see hidden messages in written books in librarys.
I agree that strongholds need to be updated a little.
I would like the idea of written books and possible stronghold bridges across ravines.

I know what it means to be alone,
I sure do wish I was at home.
I don't care what the neighbors say,
I'm gonna love you each and every day.
You can feel the beat within my heart.
Realize, sweet babe, we ain't ever gonna part.
1- give it an above ground entrance that makes it more interesting
2- give the library a purpose(and this partially relates to book shelves) and make it so you can find journals (with pages missing) of the people who built the stronghold
3- unique mobs that you can fight, maby sword weilding skelletons or even better make a trap activating a defense iron golem
4- more rooms that appear to have a purpose, maby some bunk rooms or armorys
it never knew that

"change the strongholds make them cooler and make them spawn more dangerous mobs like the Nether"
"no that's stupid there's already something that has that cool idea"
just a troll I imagine?
looks that way don't it?

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..

Zombified Prisoners?! Idk... lol...
But yes. Ender eyes track to a entrance and maybe even make the stronghold 2x as big!
