Didn't Ghasts already have a chance of spawning around Nether Portals if there was room? Or was that removed shortly after the Nether was added?
Anyway. Hopefully they add something to oceans within the next few snapshots. I really would like to see whales or shipwrecks or something. Or palm trees added on islands in ocean biomes(if the islands are still considered "Ocean").

I'm usually not trying to be rude. So if a post comes across that way then sorry :]
didnt he say something about new stairs? idk...... anyway yes pigmen can spawn near portals now, its in 12w22a, and on topic, good predictions, but i dont want ghasts spawning in my house XD
Pigmen are planned, not added, so maybe in 12w23a, maybe they'll add pigmen... I wonder if they'll be able to travel in Nether Portals too, just like pigzombies

I have not used this in years. If you cringe at my comments, keep in mind I was about 9 when I made most of them :^)
I agree with some of your ideas of what may be coming, but I really doubt Ghasts will come out of Nether portals. The Nether is large and open, great for Ghasts to fly around in, but having them come into the Overworld would probably look really weird in some cases (and would probably lead to people making Overworld Ghast farms).

"Victory is like a watermelon. It's hard to spell and it tastes good."
It's not going to be in the next update, but I would like to see a "builder" villager that extends villages as it fills to capacity.
That way, you could help villages grow through other means than doing everything yourself.
Like the more you protect and trade with them, the larger number of villagers will survive and the survivors with make the village larger.
Edit: I also think food supply should play a role in the number of villagers
Cool idea because i currently have about 10 villagers in every house it just makes me want to kill them (but I can't or I will be attacked by the iron gollems and I will lose my good hardcore world )
I'm not so sure about some of that stuff. You might be right about Igloos but I'm not sure they would mess with forest biomes.
I don't think ghasts would ever be allowed through the portals because they would set fire to everything and just be griefers.
Villages are only in plains and deserts, so there wouldn't be a jungle village in the first place.
Emerand probably will become more common but I do like the idea of only having them in certain biomes.
My predictions are just that the new experience system will be heavily balanced because mining coal gives way too much. Iron and Gold don't give any which will probably be changed. Also, the bookshelf formula will be re-done so you need the full 30 bookshelves to get level 30 enchants instead of 19 or whatever it is now.
Time to make a "DoctorSeaweed next thread predictions thread"
*sigh*
I see no sense in these prediction threads. I mean, there are nothing else but indirect suggestions.
Lighten up. I just find it fun seeing these predictions.
I think some of you are confused about the zombie-pigmen traveling through portals bit. They don't actually use the portals.
If they do have this new feature (I've heard a lot about it, but haven't seen it myself, nor seen a direct confirmation from Mojang), you're not going to see them walking into, and using portals in the nether. Nether-side, nothing at all has changed. They will merely spawn next to a portal in the overworld on occasion, to give the appearance that they came from the portal.
Giving the pigmen the ability to actually use portals, and pop into the overworld from the nether, would be too resource-intensive. It would require the game to keep the nether loaded at all times, even when no players are in it, just to keep track of the pigmen.

Ghasts spawning in the overworld was an old rumor, and nothing more. It never actually happened, and if ya ask me, the overworld would be devastated if it did...those flying ****ers are relentless!
Making different slab types is a lot harder then adding a new label in stairs. You can pretty much add as many types of fences, pressure plates, stairs etc. as you want.
Basically the difference is that StairSingle is a block, and each new slab is each a metadata. For stairs and things, they are just blocks morphed into etc. and it's tagged to the name.
Eg. FenceBirch, FencePine
The slabs are just one block: StairSingle
Too bad that when I add glass stairs the transparency goes funky and I see through the ground.
I agree completely. The way I see it, multi-colored wooden stairs would be totally easy...all they have to do is make 3 clones of the existing wooden stair block into new block IDs, and apply the new textures to the clones. Wooden stairs already act like wood, so that's it...done.
And glass stairs...I love the sound of that. Too bad they were bugged. You should try glass slabs while you're at it. Slabs are considered fully-transparent by the game, rather than the awkward-limbo space between transparent and opaque that stairs occupy. So they probably wouldn't have the same see-through-the-ground problem.

I forgot that I already did glass slabs. The thing is, 2 glass slabs stacked on each other do the see-through-ground thing again.

Ah, damn. I didn't think about the double stack. Makes total sense, given the game's mechanics, but still, that sucks. I want glass slabs so bad...
Would there be a way to redirect all calls by the game for glass double-slabs to the glass block instead? Ghetto-fabulous workaround of sorts?
Else, glass slabs/doubleslabs would probably have to be their own blocks, like the new wooden slabs, to give them totally-transparent glass-like properties. That way they wouldn't need a pickaxe either.
This is never going to be added, but it would be the most awesome thing they could add in my opinion:
A mode where no blocks are affected by gravity. When you turn off the mode, all blocks would still stay in the air (except if you cause an update). This would be incredibly useful in map making! And of course, all spawners should be available in the creative inventory.

They could probably skip the crap and make slabs the same way they make everything else, in fact they probably did considering that wooden slabs are made of wood now.
Back on topic, where's my red dragon!! :|
I predict they will, out of nowhere, add red dragons to the game because I said so!
I predict that zombie pigmen can't travel through. If you see a zombie pigman, then that means a lightning struck a pig. As for the portal, MinecraftWiki said that you can hear zombie pigmen grunt. I think you misunderstood that and thought that zombie pigmen travel through portals.
Anyway. Hopefully they add something to oceans within the next few snapshots. I really would like to see whales or shipwrecks or something. Or palm trees added on islands in ocean biomes(if the islands are still considered "Ocean").
Sixteen of them filled up with water, so I guess that's true. Even if it's infrequent.
It will be more difficult to verify the zombie Pigman thing...
Not really, if you go into creative and have it on Hard. Try building portals everywhere
Also, my first portal in my new world... it happened to me. No pics/vids though, I didn't have any screen cap program on at the time (wish I did)

lol jks
Also a mob that actualy hunts you, is smart, dont disappear when the sun comes out.
I can't wait for a new mob update maybe flying and swimming mobs.
Also I reckon we need arrow targets (if you hit it with an arrow it produces a redstone signal)
I agree a mob update is what we all need

Well, they're called zombie pigmen so you're wrong to

Just die in horrible pain. Jeb has already said about Emerald Ore.
