As seen in one of Jebs villager picture teasers, if you look very closely, you can see there is a brand new Gravel texture, what is your opinions on this?
My Opinion: I prefer the old one better, but does look more realistic...
Picture is owned by Minecraft Wikipedia, I take no credit whatsoever.
EDIT: I decided to look around the Recent Topics thread for a bit, this may be a new block. We never know, but we will eventually find out in the next snapshot Not a new block >.>
I think it looks great! If that texture goes live then I think I'll start using it instead of the custom gravel texture I made myself (back when there used to be gravel beaches). Here is my texture: http://www.mediafire.com/i/?3g165nz3r2rjvbn
Sorry Guys for the Low-res pic, Could not get it any better unless I had it as a source picture, It's gone from Jebs twitter to a couple editing programs lets say, haha
I'm excited for it. The gravel texture was always one of my least favorites, and I never got around to making a better one for my personal texture pack. The new one looks much more gravel-like. It looks like you can even see the flint inside now!
Setting aside what the gravel block has previously looked like in Minecraft, I have to admit when I picture gravel, it looks kinda like that new texture.
It's probably just a new block to replace the gravel paths. And I wouldn't judge on how it looks in that picture until we get a closer and clearer look, each block has a total of 3 pixels each.

I actually think it will fit very well with other stone blocks. It would look great for mixing into castle stone walls, paving streets/paths. In caves it will fit well with smooth stone.
I like it. Frankly, I just hate gravel in general. Why does it have to be EVERYWHERE underground. It gets in my way ALL the time. 75% of my mining includes breaking 5 extra blocks from the ceiling, then filling in those 5 blocks, then moving to the next 5 blocks to break and refill. Looking at the old texture of gravel gives me a headache because of my past experiences. The new texture will at least make me hate gravel less...temporarily.

Good Builders know, Gravel is a great building material for advanced paths, and what is wrong with Gravel? You could say the same with sand, except that sand is not underground. Without gravel, Minecraft's Mining part would feel empty.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
Probably because the picture is ****ed up.
Wait until the new version comes. I think the gravel will look a lot better ingame when you will see it.
It's blurry because of the picture...
Also, it seems more like something that would yield flint than the current gravel texture.
*Ahem*

Yep, yep and yep. The so-called 'random pixels' look more like gravel, what they have looks like a jolicraft thing going on. Bleh
