Is this a joke? You're complaining about something they need to fix, then keep telling us they won't fix it..That's ALL you have argued so far.
They will fix, or do whatever the hell they want, it's Jeb, remember when he 'came to power' and everyone rejoiced because they didn't like Notch for some reason? Well have some damn faith in him. And the rest of the MC team too.

Bukkit as well. they fixed a million bugs within the first week of joining Mojang.

I am sick to death of that line. You've said it half a dozen times by this point, and it's not true. There were some fixes, but entirely unimpressive, and not anywhere near the scale we'll need for SMP to become even comparable with SSP. Those are all of the bug fixes in the first Bukkit involved full release, 1.2.4.
Bug Fixes:
Made placing half blocks on existing half blocks (to make a full block) easier.
Limit framerate on menu screens, no longer uses 100% CPU.
Fixed fatal crash for converted worlds to anvil, when there’s blocks at max height.
Fixed an old bug with signs clearing text while you’re editing them inmultiplayer.
Fixed crash when logging in while there are blocks at maxheight at spawn.
Fixed crashes on invalid server addresses when joining a server.
Fixed entities being uninteractable if they existed at login in multiplayer.
Fixed dupe exploit with paintings.
Fixed furnaces and dispensers dropping enchanted items.
Fixed the “flickering” of chat as it vanishes off the screen.
Fixed text rendering over items in the container screens.
Fixed exploit with jungle saplings (turns other saplings into jungle ones).
Fixed launcher opening minecraft dir if the path contains a space.
Fixed an off-by-one lighting bug.
Fixed block transmuting (turning one block into another via pistons).
Fixed placing mushrooms in daylight, where they can’t survive.
Fixed redstone lamps dropping powered block items when destroyed while on.
“save-all” (server command) now works even when you have toggled “save-off”.
Fixed turning half-blocks into full-blocks while you’re standing on them.
Fixed seed displaying in F3 debug when the seed is unknown in multiplayer.
Fixed villager texture changing clientside per profession.
Fixed falling off ledge corners while holding shift.
Glass blocks can be picked up using Silk Touch enchanted tools again.
Now, let's remove the ones that aren't related to SMP.

Ten fixes, that's all. One of which relates to the issues that are now bedeviling SSP because of this stupid change. That's all. They've accomplished nothing that carries an ounce of weight in comparison to what single player is facing.

Statistics show that people who tell others they need to get a new computer are twice as likely to use "gay" as a negative descriptor and will most likely never see genitals in real life, at least while not in prison.

you took me far too literally. have some faith in Mojang and Bukkit; theyre not stupid.

The big thing is now that they can focus 100% of their bug stomping effort on the SMP bugs instead of fixing SSP and SMP bugs. SMP in it's current state (1.2.5) is really not that bad as long as server load is low and your connection is good. These two things are not a problem when you are a single connection to a local server that won't even need to be connected to the internet in order to function.
In 1.1 my mobs I couldn't even play on my lan server. 1.2.5 fixed that and I really can't tell the difference playing on my server with a few friends vs ssp unless I spent to much time in my mob grinder and only then placing and removing blocks is slow and not mobs. Sure there are a few lighting bugs due to the clients now handling lighting but those will get fixed and the temporary inconvenience is well worth the performance buff it brought. (this change may even have opened the door to portable lights *crosses fingers*)
Granted If I trolled and made a huge fuss the thread probably would have gotten more attention but would have been a huge waste of energy because this was promptly fixed for the next update.
imo this is an attempt to keep out pirated clients more than anything, which in that case a work around will probably be found anyway lol.
While Mojang almost certainly has this in mind, this fix will be more useful for local connection servers.
Which will now be entirely within "SSP", so that a server does not even have to be set up (manually).
It's also good for coding. All of the updates, half of the work.
I don't think this necessarily has anything to do with piracy, although it has come to mind. The majority of non-Mojang launchers fake a login, and that is all that is necessary for the current system to work, although I wouldn't put it past Dinnerbone or another Bukkit member to push for it before full release.
Mojang has always been very public about supporting piracy for those that cannot afford the game at the moment but would like to play it, or those looking to try before you buy, and although they have taken steps to deter it or nag about it, it's never been the kind of opposition that you see from E.A, it's a friendly but respectful approach, and to turn their back on it after the empire has been built on piracy would alienate the fan base more than anti-piracy action would bring them financial benefits. To make an overt action against pirates at this point would be akin to Michael Bay supporting them, financial suicide and essentially make Mojang a pariah in indie gaming.
Just my opinion though.

At this point since minecraft is already succesful I wouldn't put it past them to pull a "screw the rest I got mine" and restrict piracy. Since..well what are pirates gonna do? Complain that they cant steal?
Oh, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't either. In particular, I could see Dinnerbone pushing for it, he seems like a ne'er do-well. He was talking about pizza with meatballs on it on Twitter.
Meatballs?
On Pizza?
Probably Swedish.
However, I think it'd be an incredible mistake. Mojang still needs support for Scrolls and the poorly named SpaceSim that Notch is going to halfway finish then toss to a guy with a ponytail, to turn against pirates would be to turn against every person that pirated and then bought the game. It'd be the last of the respect from those who appreciate the realistic perspective they've taken on it from the start. It'd be a sure sign that Mojang had jumped the shark and they'd be a one-hit-wonder like Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch, or Don Johnson.

one of the things i happen to like best about Mojang is the fact that their team is rather quirky. it sets them apart from the rest, and it certainly doesnt hurt their ability to develop a game.
as for your predictions, who knows? i'm not going to beat on you saying youre wrong, but im not supporting it either. when neither of us have anything to REALLY base predictions on other than history, its just a battle between optimism and pessimism. the former of which is the viewpoint i've decided to take.

Playing Minecraft since [Friday, March 19, 2010, 9:20:21 PM] (First indev world save)
just because this reminds me of something...
let there also be more initiative to add ride-able dragons... or some sort of other ride-able flying thing...

sausage is normal. meatballs is generally not, unless they do it differently in Sweden.
No, I swear that the pizza joint down the street sells it.
It looks like this:
Seriously.
i'd settle for a ridable anything
Kill it! Kill it! BURN IT WITH FIRE!
FIRE DOESN'T HURT IT! WE"RE DOOMED!
i think it looks delicious...
