This may be a noob move on my part but when I started in a jungle biome mixed with a swamp I noticed that the leaves on the giant trees had changed colors according to the swamp. Again, probably a noob move on my part but it'd be cool to find out that I just discovered something
I noticed that there is a new TaigaHills biome. At least I think it's new. Anyway... it's a taiga... with HILLS. I think that was pretty obvious though =P
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I didn't feel like making a good signature, so I just typed this up.

How could you NOT notice this? It's the ugliest thing in the entire game.
Has anyone else noticed improved performance or, on fast computers, smoother frames with this snapshot. With 1.2.5, both Fraps and the in-game measure showed constant 60fps framerate, yet there was still some stuttering while playing the game, and with 12w15a the game plays much smoother. It could be the snapshot or it could be the Nvidia drivers update that added FXAA. But other than that, this snapshot was very disappointing. I don't mind bug fixes, but this update just made the game so much buggier just to fix what, like one bug in the pick blocks feature.
Since game crashing on GUI change may hint it was changed, is there anything in the game files that's new with the GUI? Possibly code related to trading?

This was added in 1.1 to help make the terrain less flat. Deserts, forests, and tagia have this.
I'm going to rant about this update. Because of this bug heavy update, we probably won't get a real update next week. It will just be a bug fix update...

It's people like you that have to enforce Jeb to fix everything. Anyway, I think he's gotten alot of messages anyway and fixing them.
To the people complaining about features:
Remember the days of nostalgic beta 1.5 (oh jeez) where we waited a month for the update to come out, no prereleases, no snapshots, just a bulk of features? Mhm. No, half of you don't. The fact that this is has barely any features is because we are getting one of the biggest SMP and Mod revolutions in it. The whole damn Bukkit team is trying to fix SMP and Jeb is slowly getting the Mod API done. Heck, when Jon comes back...

Exactly. Remember when we had to wait what like 3 months for 1.8? I think you can manage to wait a week. Sorry if I'm wrong about the 1.8 time but I know it took more than 2 months from 1.7 for it to be fully released
I'd just like to know the point of having a snapshot and not telling people what the change log is. The point of these snapshots are to test the things that were changed, correct? How are we, as a community, suppose to test changes when we dont know what they are? I guess this is what happens when you let fans run production. Its not a funny thing to do to hide stuff that you want to comminuty to test. Its just idiotic.

Idiotic. Right... Sort of like complaining to the community, instead of the people who happen to be the "idiots". On another note, they'll be releasing another snapshot next week, so the "idiotic" fun they're having isn't going to harm anything.
1. zombies drop iron equipment
2. skeletons now drop bows.
IMO this needs to be changed, this just makes the game hell of a lot easier, and it was already easy since 1.0
This has been in for ages, the drops are just incredibly rare.
What is the point of releasing a snapshot, that is used for testing, and not telling people what to test?
Simple. If you want people to test something that is not obvious or debatable. Framerates, system architecture, something subtle.
Just to see, if anyone honestly notices. Of course everyone will wail on the forums about anything you mention, wherever they notice that or not.
I don't see any point in hidden changelog on a TESTING SNAPSHOT.
I can see hiding things for release patches to be surprises.. but a testing snapshot? That is totally counter intuitive. The entire point of the snapshots is to help test changes. Hard to do that when you don't know the damn changes. Which I'm sure will make some people not want to bother. Which means less people helping test.
For those that would say that they have to first put a secret thing into a snap shot before they can release it, that's not true. If they want to keep something hidden that will be in a release, keep it out of a snapshot and test it internally as best they can.. and bug fix it later if necessary.
Old feature is ye olde.

Also, Taiga Hills are not new...
This is the best post in this entire thread.

Although I like the sound of framerate improvement (and hopefully death to lag spikes).
I think I'll wait for 12w15b or 12w16a this time around.
Sir, it's really rare for mobs to drop items when slain. Its not a game breaker.
Praise be to Spode.
