Hello there. I know how to improve the Redstone! Here is my idea: you could place any block right on the Redstone and the it can be placed on the walls (like electrical wire). What do you think?
Is anyone saying same-sex couples can't love each other? I love my children. I love my friends, my brother. Heck, I even love my mother-in-law. Should we call these relationships marriage, too?" –Rick Santorum
Where'd you hear that? I read Jeb had confirmed it was a feature.
That doesn't look like a feature to me. Considering how much they nerfed lever and repeater power relay I'm pretty sure a wire being cut off between blocks will be disabled soon also.
Edit: Then again, you're 'powering' the blocks directly which means that the redstone on it is powered, so I guess it seems legit, just looks awkward.

It does look totally awkward, but since glowstone is a transparent block, it doesn't actually cut the wires. And since it's the only transparent block redstone can be put on, it became a special block for this type of use. It's by far the most compact way to wire upwards, with no delay.
There's a couple threads in the redstone forum showing what it can be used for. The second one below has a tweet from Jeb saying it's a feature.

Current will go up, but not down. And since there's no torches, there's no delay.
I've heard this isn't going to last long, so I wouldn't get used to it!
Hopefully Mojang will implement something like this in the future.
Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
