HellI everyone, I just wanna do some trouble shooting on why my xp farm isn't working. Let me start by telling you the details. My xp farm consists of a single skeleton mob spawner. It is setup in a way that the skeletons only have a 1x2 area to spawn and the only remaining blocks carry them to a drop (the water flow is stopped by signs so it doesn't create a waterfall.) This drop is just high enough to hurt them enough to where 1 fist hit will kill them. I have been waiting at the bottom and I think I hear one moving around but it isn't falling. When I went up to see what the problem was it fell while I was going up.
Do I need to make a better spawn area?
How close do I need to be for them to walk around?
Do I need a more efficient water system?
Any other suggestions?
p.s It is close to some other caves. Will this decrease the spawn rate?
For one, the 1x2 area makes the spawning rate highly inefficient. Try looking up cave spider farm guides, they work much better for beginning xp farms (crush with pistons).
If you do wish to stick with your skeleton farm, you might have to avoid drops since the AI was updated for skeletons (I think). They might avoid drops now, and can move better in water. Not really sure though, since I haven't made a skeleton grinder since 1.0 ...
