I love the new AI. And I love playing on hardcore mode. It's f'ing hard! The way it should be. I hate when people complain about something being difficult, and it's supposed to be that way. If you lose, play a lower difficulty. Don't ruin it for the rest of us.
I don't always like playing hardcore because I build fantastic things
Then something stupid happens, like opening a portal to the nether for the first time and there being no land under it. Just a hundred foot tall drop to lava
Not good enough for Hardcore? Play Hard.
Not good enough for Hard? Play Normal.
Not good enough for Normal? Play Easy.
Not good enough for Easy? Play Peaceful.
Not good enough for Peaceful? Play Creative.
Seriously man, there's no possible way that a better AI can ruin the game, you just gotta settle for an easier difficulty until you get the hang of it.
Not sayin' that you suck or something like that, I myself play on easy/creative most of the time because I hate going kaboom every so often, it's just a matter of coming to terms with what you can do and what you can't until you can do what you previously couldn't do.
This.
Not to mention you can switch difficulties any time during the game. About to die? Hit esc, change to peaceful.
It's cheap but it works.
Saying that making the game hard will drive away casual gamers isn't a valid argument, as there are 2 casual modes in the game (peaceful and creative).
Hard is easy, don't get worried till I am lost in a cave system with a good 20 diamonds, and out of potions. Just need to be ready for what awaits around the next corner and get enchanted items.
Honestly, Hardcore is too hard, play on easy or peaceful. Seriously, it's not THAT hard to create a world on survival.
I mean, I'm now on 5 hours or so and despite some close calls, I've managed fine. If you're having a hard time mining, just kill the monsters inside and then place a bunch of torches. Should keep them from spawning too close by.
Oh boo ****ing hoo. It makes the game a bit better because the problem with Minecraft survival is that you could become too safe. Now you have to learn how to swing your sword and replace your front door from zombie attacks.
i gotta agree with most of the posters here. Two points:
1) Before the new AI (which, as Others have pointed out, really was not that big of a change to begin with, more like an AI "fix") change Minecraft was FAR too easy after Your first night or so. Even at that, if You had played for a bit, it's pretty easy to be safe even then. i worked at night constantly with no protection except a cursory glance to make sure that whatever mobs had spawned were safely wondering in the distance or that there was some simple pit or blocks between them and i. i think maybe the OP is a little too used to how complacent this playstyle can be because really all the new mobs do now is navigate Their way towards the Player, which not only SHOULD BE EXPECTED OF THEM IMO, but motivates the Player to be more alert and makes the game more engaging.
2) Hardcore mode is, well, for the hardcore fanbase. Hardcore mode is OPTIONAL and is there for those people who want a challenge. Just because you try to diffuse this argument in Your original post, OP, by telling Us not bring it up doesn't make it any less valid.
I really really think that all this evolution thingy was just ****in' waste of time. Humanity must made a wrong turn somewhere. And we should detonate all nuclear bombs we have and allow mother nature to start over again with cockroaches; maybe the outcome will be less depressing...
Go back to school.
Evolution is not something that's "planned". It happens. Q.E.D. it can't be a waste of time.
Ehehe it's the same like people complaining in a pvp based game that they get pked. XD
I died 3 times too since I started to play. All 3 death in hard where my own fault =/. second time was when I builded the suicide jump tower for my villager. I just ... falled down. You could say "I tested", it worked fine... . The third time was the same tower, I got pushed down by a villager XD DAMNED. The first time was when the golem snapshot came out. I just wanted to know if they attack the player too, so I just hitted one villager. In Tristram ... The only think I could remember where this 6 golems who were already around me...
Lol. The Iron Golems looked at you and were like "Nah son, that don't fly"

So, someone playing on HARD and complain that's.. well... TOO HARD?!?!?! Heavens above... Sometimes, when I read this kind of posts that OP made, I really really think that all this evolution thingy was just ****in' waste of time. Humanity must made a wrong turn somewhere. And we should detonate all nuclear bombs we have and allow mother nature to start over again with cockroaches; maybe the outcome will be less depressing...
LOL, well, it would definitely be less depressing since well you know, there wouldn't be anyone around to be depressed...

These forum posters really sunk their teeth into you.
But not to worry, one can always do as I do, smile.
No I'm not. I'm saying that the new AI makes it impossible.
On-topic: Toggles would be SO much easier for feuds like this. Or at least have easy mode have the old, dumb AI.

>>> Jon makes it harder
>> People complain.
Minecraft logic.
On topic, i love the AI. It made the game harder. Although, it does still need to be a bit harder.
But that is the point of it isn't it?
Hey! Hey you! Yeah you with the face! NARF!!
So far, I'm not seeing the hard. I've got my farm going, breeding cows, and made a giant observatory tower

Also, quit being so dramatic.
