So today I decided to start a hardcore world. 20 mins in, I died. The funny thing is, I had full iron armor. I found it quite too hard with the new AI. I found too many mobs were after me. This making is so hard to mine, you would have to consistently looking around while mining just even coal! The effort for this is too much and is not something I like in a game. Minecraft was pretty casual until the new AI. Even in normal mode, I'm gonna be constantly getting damaged. I use to have a hard time without the AI. The sad thing is though, they wont revert back. Anyway, who was excited for the new AI "Ooooh, new AI. Yay, I like to die more. Thank you"
Summary, I think that the AI ruined the game. You can't do anything at night time in minecraft or caves.
For everyone saying that I shouldn't play on hardcore, I was actually complaining about the AI not hardcore.
EDIT: I was annoyed when I wrote this just so you know.
I play on hard on the same world since 12w06 and I don't die all that often, and usually it's my fault (like being stubborn and trying to build in the night, or not lightning up caves and searching for mobs before feeling secure to start digging. Yet, on my "once a week" death average, most of it are lava/fall/hunger related (totally avoidable), and said deaths where I keep building at night even after my food and health are gone, thinking "ok just one more wall and I will get some food/health/shelter"
If I were on hardcore, I would be more careful, and probably would't die at all.
Isnt that why its called "hardcore" to keep you on your toes.
the new AI is annoying, especially since i left my door open in my house and a creeper saw me through a glass pane and made his way around the house to the open door. The rest of this short story is self explanatory.
annoying in a way that i was not expecting it because i was used to the derpy creepers running into your wall.
I really am not trying to be rude; but I do believe that little story verified your signature irrefutably.
On a more serious note:
This topic is pretty much exactly the thing I had been saying before the AI update, when a select few people were campaigning for the game to be harder in general. They tend to forget there are people of all
skill ranges.
I am however very glad for the AI update, it takes the difficulty in the right direction rather then mobs just getting an additional +2 to damage. This may unfortunately be a case where hardcore just isn't for you.
I've been playing for about a year and a half and for a very long time I have felt that hard was too easy (but I don't like the finality of hardcore). But the other night when I watched a Creeper find a route to me from the safe perch that I spotted him from I got a refreshing thrill in knowing how deadly they have become. Now I know that if a Creeper spots me, it will find the best path to me rather than just hopelessly running towards me even with a blocked path. They have me looking over my shoulder again, and that is a good thing in my opinion.
At first I didn't really like the new AI because it was something different. But now I really like it. I think it just takes a bit of time getting used to.

But they remember the development and philosophy which sold many people to the game. For all this time features have been added that either made things easier or annoying. Nothing really added difficulty. Now we're getting that promise, that the game would take turns toward harder difficulties, fulfilled.
I'm not trying to troll here, but up until now people were complaining about how hardcore is far too easy.
That is what always happens, people complain about something (like AI not being smart enough) and when it is changed/fixed people always complain about the change.

Nice use of contextomy friend; if you had read the rest of my post and used it in context with the section highlighted you would have seen that I am in favor of the changes that have occurred thus far. However, while also still offering caution to avoid a potential slip into making things impossibly difficult.
Although I am a slight confused as to the 'they' you refer to.
Do you mean the developers? In which case I would remind you that the person who wrote the section you linked is no longer in fact developing this game. I will not disagree with the principle of it; because I also share that opinion. I would rather the game be more difficult; but that would drive away large sections of more relaxed players. (Which the original poster appears to be, hence my response directed toward him)
My context of the ‘they’ would be some particular group of individual users who offered radical and drastic game changing ‘solutions’ without regard to the impact on other players.
AI ruined the game? AI saved the game. MineCraft is much more challenging now, it was so easy before, way too easy. I play on hard and I still think it's sort of easy, especially with armor.

This entire post just saddens me to the core.
1.) Hardcore is just as difficult as Hard more but with the added fear of perma death.
2.) Hard Difficulty is not hard at all. If you are a newer player, or a casual gamer then you do not need to be on this setting, and certainly don't need to be complaining about it. There is nothing to be ashamed about to play on easy or normal.
3.) I've been playing in Hard difficulty for almost 6 months now and I've legitly only died twice in total of my 3 single-player worlds. 1 from an ambush and the other from a fall after I misjudged a jump
If it's too much, turn it down. Dumbing down the game for players who like a challenge is NEVER the solution
The game is supposed to be hard, your not supposed to just walk around at night without fear. That's like complaining that your playing an MMORPG and you cannot walk through a level 100 area at level 5.
What's the point of that coal, or iron or diamonds if you are never threatened when you work for it.
The feeling of just BARELY making it around a corner as you are running from a horde of skellies with 1 heart left and a load of 5 diamonds in your pocket, that my friend. Is something you will remember forever.

Ok, so the guy made a not-so-logical complaint about the AI, and never posted again. Cheking his signature I can see that he is the creator of a number of mods. Does it feel like he is just looking for more downloads? Oh maybe i'm just being paranoid right...
Just a reminder to everyone that is saying not everyone wants it to be harder that there is this little option called Peaceful that prevents hostile mobs from spawning. That setting is for the relaxed players that don't want to deal with the risk of mobs or hunger. No reason to dumb down the challenge to appease the less daring when there's a difficulty option to do that already.
Damn it! People always complained about how MC was too easy. Now it's too hard!??!!?!?
Buddy, kill 3 sheep, get 3 blocks of wood, diggy a small hole underground enough space for you and your bed, and hide. HARDCORE lives up to it's name. HARDCORE, doesn't mean "easy!" It means HARDCORE. Yeesh.
Edit: DAYTIME IS FOR MINING ETC. NIGHT TIME IS FOR HIDING IN YO LITTLE HOLE IN THE GROUND, OR YER HUGE MANSION, OR UR LITTLE DUNNY. KAY? THX. BAI!!!
The AI is getting better, but it still isn't that challenging yet. After all, the monsters aren't cooperating except by accident, their field of view is more than a bit limited, and now they're unwilling to take a little damage to kill you.
On the other hand, there's nothing worse than hearing pounding on your front door, going upstairs to check it out, and seeing not only a zombie, but creepers and skeletons waiting for the zombie to batter down your door.
My only problem is that I am still getting used to it. I remember when it first came out I was in a village in a fenced backyard. I saw this creeper down below(it generated odd so the backyard was floating a bit) at first it startled me but I went about looking around. But it wasn't until the creeper got half way around did I remember something.
New AI.
A creeper either blew me up or I managed to avoid it. I don't remember.(I later regenerated that world)
Of course very recently I was in a Ravine and I was amazed that this Zombie was navigating the walkway/ledge with such ease. I suddenly felt very vulnerable up there.
But I love this new AI. It can make things far more interesting.
