I have seen a lot of chatter about what was going to happen to snow in 1.2 but not hard and fast details.
In general, could you list details of snow behaviors that *you* have personally seen in the 1.2 formal release?
And specifically, do player-placed snow blocks melt in non-snow biomes? In other words... will a pretty snow-white house melt? I know I can use wool, but it is not as pure-white a block as snow.
I am not in a snow biome. I will have to hike a long way to find snow and make blocks. Clearly all that work isn't worth it if the blocks will melt soon after I place them.
So, since this is a forum that has some nice people in addition to the trolls, I know some of those nice people have already tried and will give the answer.
The large blocks you can make out of snow balls? They don't melt under any circumstances. You can put lava in them.

Statistics show that people who tell others they need to get a new computer are twice as likely to use "gay" as a negative descriptor and will most likely never see genitals in real life, at least while not in prison.

Aren't you forgetting we have a creative mode you can easily test this with by spawning snowblocks?

Snow golems melt because this game is ridiculously inconsistent.
sweet! I can make a white modern house now!

Strangely, they have even melted in snow biomes.

They take damage from water now, so when it rains/snows they take damage and break.
What point are blaze's being weak to them matter if they melt in the nether?
Added to the bug list. They should not die when it's SNOWING, of all things.
Do you realize that you are arguing for a SNOWMAN TO DIE when it's SNOWING?
He's arguing that the game treats snow and rain more or less in the same manner. The snow/rain system would need a quick fix.
No, I realize why it's happening. It just seemed like the poster wanted snow golems to react as they do now.
