So i was thinking that Some people might have an opionion on the new redstone Lamps and i wanted to see what that was so I made this Topic.
My views:
Summary: completly retarded.
Long Hand:
I Find a few things weird and it will be easyier to put them down in dot point style.
1. Glowstone Dose Not conduct Power and Pass it on. Lamps Do (Annoying as all Hell Should be Changed IMO)
2. Glowstone can't have dust put ontop of it Nor Can any other Redstone Device Lamps Can.
The Reason I am comparing/relating it to glowstone is because it is made of nothing but glowstone and some dust. I would like to provide a reason for wanting Point 1 changed. Because of Point 1 any Lamp next to another lamp that is directly powerd will also become powerd. Now what really annoys me is that this was Coded this way not just some acident because there has been a limit put in place to stop the whole like of say 5 Lamps turning on from just 1 input. Because of this ""Feature"" it is imposibal to Make Screens/Dance floors because lamps you do not want turned on turn on.
While i am on the point of redstone devices and the way they connect WHY dose Every Redstone Device Need to have its own set of rules on how you can power it.
Dispensers this way Pistons This way Lamps This Way. there is no reason in my eyes why dispensers cant act the same as pistons. in the past iv tried to wire dispensers the same was as i would a piston only to find i need to use a torch not a repeater...
You are not understanding how powered objects work. Redstone lamps do not CONDUCT redstone current.
It is just that they become powered if they are adjacent to a powered block. That includes other redstone lamps.
It actually would make sense for a Lamp to conduct redstone current, if they in fact did, due to it being coated in redstone dust the Magic/Electric "wire" of Minecraft.
uh thats not how i see it I see it as Powered I see Blocks as Powerd when a High current is passed into them Via A repeater, torch, dust.
When that Block is powerd The only way to get power out of it is with a repeater or torch. So the fact that you can put a block in the line of repeaters means that it is conducting power Glowstone and Glass Do not conduct power. With your logic your trying to tell me that the torch thats pointed at the lamp powers the lamp that is a full block away from the torch.... aka
Lamp
Air
Torch
And that is wrong... With out a Block to Conduct the power where the Air is The lamp won't be powerd. the fact that A Lamp Conducts power is Wrong IMO.
Any way I dont care if it passes power Onto another lamp as I have already worked out a Complicated Work Around. Proof My brother and I just made this.
This Way can be Done Sideways as well Will be making a dance floor Video Very soon Where i will explain how this is done..
Lamps don't actually CONDUCT power, though! If you put a lamp in the middle of redstone wire, the current will be interrupted. If you put a door next to a powered lamp, the door will not open. It's simply a phenomenon between lamps and nothing else. And seeing as you have figured out a workaround, I don't see why this needs to be fixed. It's actually helpful.

Normal blocks don't do that with redstone wire, but they do if you use a redsone repeater. I like it but it will probably change.
And again, you are coating the Glowstone in Redstone Dust the magic/electrical wiring of Minecraft. Why wouldn't it make sense for a Redstone Lamp to conduct the current?

It's a little different, though, because I was mistaken in my first post. This only seems to happen between lamps and powered lamps, not lamps and ALL powered blocks. Also, this "conduction" can't propagate down or up.

So what do you think? Am I just crazy?
