If any of you use CraftBukkit and/or have a server hosted on BeastNode, you may have noticed the following bugs after updating an existing map:
• Hunger doesn't decrease. Having 8 beefs of hunger meter will stay at 8 beefs of hunger meter. After the amount of time that should elapse to go from 8 to 0 has passed, hunger immediately drops to 0.
• Placing blocks above 128 doesn't consume blocks
• Nothing grows. Grass, trees, wheat, sugar cane, etc.
In the process of testing these to report them, I found they all went away when removing the 1.2.2 Beta of CraftBukkit and going to vanilla. If anyone else noticed these problems, I hope this was helpful.
Encountered the same problems with 1.2 such as block ticks stopping altogether. Grass never growed, leaves didn't decay, mob wouldn't spawn. It felt as if the entire world was in stasis. We are running an older seed, slightly pre 1.8 I believe.
Downgrading both server and client back to 1.1 (server running CraftBukkit git-Bukkit-1.1-R6-b1988jnks) and it fixed the block tick issue, grass was growing, trees decaying, mob spawning. However we still have the hunger problem where it doesn't change until your bar is empty. No mods installed client or server side.
