If you aren't part of the solution, then you obviously weren't properly dissolved.
I just found another one with the tuff peeking out of an iceberg at 144, 62, 147.

Very interesting. As a keen mineral collector and occasional mineral dealer, I find the addition of geodes to be most welcome. Clearly, the developers have taken inspiration from the large amethyst filled vesicles found in Brazil and Uruguay. Not sure what a 'bud' is; 'crystal' or 'point' would probably be a better term. And hopefully they'll tighten up the generation algorithm as geodes forming in icebergs make no sense.
I don't usually load snapshots but am very much looking forward to this next release.
Thanks for sharing.
EDIT: Just read up on 'budding amethyst'. I understand what the developers are trying to convey but the term still seems odd. I would suggest amethyst 'core' or 'seed' as a better term. To me, 'budding' suggests an organic association. 'Seed' might also suggest something organic, but there is precedence for the usage of 'seed' in the literature in mineral systems. Additionally, 'amethyst cluster' should be sufficient for all stages of crystal growth; just drop the term 'bud' for stages 1-3.
I don't like geodes so exposed above ground level... The structure is always the same shape and finding them continuously on the surface may get old extremely fast... IMO they should decrease the max height level for them to spawn. When you find a geode underground you don't notice the repetitive pattern so easily.
And they could by the way add different geode patterns like in real life and not only the spheric one:

Coordinates: 177, 65, -53
I used a diamond pickaxe to get through the tuff layer and calcite layer to expose three amethyst blocks and one budding amethyst.
Second image shows the interior of the hollow geode.
Third image shows the interior with amethyst buds and amethyst clusters.

I really hope they don't have them spawn on the surface for 1.17
Imagine a giant narrow geode that formed a mini cave.
Praise be to Spode.
Wow! Amazing!
A found few of them above ground in the same world. All not far from each other and near the start position.
I found one in the ocean
