This is the source for it: This bug should be patched soon, although it hasn't been fixed in bedrock 1.17.10, and Java 1.17.1 isn't released as of this post. Maybe it will be fixed in 1.18, but if this is true, a lot of people might stick to early 1.17 snapshots and 1.16.5. As for Bedrock players, it might get bad fast, unless there is an easy way to access early 1.17 snapshots or 1.16.5. If this happens, then I don't know what Mojang is thinking.
It should probably be fixed in a minor 1.17 update, but maybe the next minor update will fix a lot of bugs and add some things to the game, so they want to wait until they can release more. But I feel like they should fix it soon.
Also, I am currently not sure if this bug applies to Java Edition.
question for kajreturns. i don't know what to call an area if it is not a stronghold. i found it at level 34 on my first world after the 1.17 update on xbox. great world with orgin point between desert, taiga, jungle and birch forest. there is a portal very close, a desert temple, a desert village and i just found another desert temple but haven't entered it yet. i have found two spider spawners in this area so far. have placed a torch on both of the spawners. it's an interesting area. the caves are great and not immense like the snapshots but windy and lots of lava. found 12 diamonds in the caves so far and plenty of iron. not a lot of gold but still finding it. just needed enough to make my clock.
oh my gosh. i forgot to dig out the pressure plate on the second desert temple and blew it up after i had opened the first chest. now that was an awakening but i didn't die. i had full iron armor on. but i discovered there were oak wood planks all aroound so that much to be explored and get railroad sections.

That's a mineshaft, not a stronghold. Strongholds are made out of stone brick.

I wouldn't have had a problem with moving diamonds further down in newer chunks, it's their distribution that people were mostly bothered about, but since it is a bug soon to be patched in bedrock edition I suppose we have nothing to worry about.
The simple fact is diamonds are needed for in game progression, they're not like decor blocks which can be obtained in their raw form in trades, having ore generation be messed with can break the game.
Lava being renewable in this version is pretty nice. I believe that now something else is renewable that wasn't before, but I can't remember what.
Lava being renewable is nice, not that it needed to be, with numerous other fuel and light sources being renewable, and lava is normally too risky or destructive to keep as a light source, any adjacent block that is broken and drops into it, gets destroyed. But it does work as a natural "free" light source in the mines.
Obsidian was already renewable before 1.17, because of Piglin trade. But I suppose having lava being renewable doesn't hurt.

Lava being farmable means obsidian is more farmable than via piglins. Obsidian was also renewable manually via portals/ End platform respawning.
Still can't remember what the other renewability is though...

Good point, and 1.17 means gold isn't as easily farmed because Drowned Zombies no longer drop gold ingots, they drop copper instead. You need gold to get anything off Piglin in trades period, so now because of this change you'd struggle to get anything in renewable form off Piglin, not just Obsidian, but gravel too, and you need gravel to make coarse dirt and concrete.
so i've checked for diamonds. not really anymore yet or the chunks i am playing on don't do the update but new chunks will have more diamonds?
what i am considering, i really like the seed that i am on. so many diverse biomes together at world generation. and lots of villages and mineshafts and temples. so if i just generate a new world with this seed, should the diamonds and changes from the last update on bedrock be updated in my world? it's easier to build a new world than what i have got so far. copper houses and gardens galore and lots of paper and such.

Yes, if you create a new world with the same seed it will generate everything based on the latest update.
really different start to 1.17.1. i have 12 diamond as soon as i started digging on level 11. i am using my -1192028314 seed but i did get the starter chest. i have more diamond than iron... and this seed starts me in a birch forest. replanted some birch and got bees. this is intereasting. got to find more iron now for armor. found 4 more diamonds. writing down the location of them. might have diamond armour. then i can go to a portal...
i think now i am in minecraft story mode. i wanted to do some traveling from my home base. i have the biggest map on my location and traveled for a day to make a temporary location. got settled and the location is about 20 clicks from a skeleton spawner. have go back to home base. lots of iron and have to armor up and fight the skeletons. i get bones and arrows from them. i can probably disable the spawner but i need a bow. i have not seen any spiders in this world yet. lots of creepers though.
Where's the source?

I think this update is good, but not the greatest.
I didn't really think of much about the mobs and blocks, but the generation changes.
When they made the split, I was rather sad but you know, gotta understand the reasons.
So I voted on Somewhat Like, I would definitely vote on Strongly Like on 1.18 though.

bedrock just updated to 1.17.2 to change ore generation. haven't had a chance to check the diamond ore yet.
so i've checked for diamonds. not really anymore yet or the chunks i am playing on don't do the update but new chunks will have more diamonds?

I remember now. The other renewable item is shulker shells, since shulkers now clone when injured sometimes.
Lava and shulker shells, OP things, hard to renew. Works for me!
You only need 27 shulker boxes to fill up an ender chest, so unless you've got other players on the world
you'll be maxing out your ender chest relatively quick
On my current world there are 4 players who joined in total,
excluding myself, 3 other people and we have at least 5 shulker boxes each,
which means about 20 exist on the world now.
Bundles will be a thing soon enough.
It''ll make inventory management more efficient
I've lost count how many times I've been in the Nether and maxed out my inventory,
and having to sacrifice a few Magma Creams or Blaze Rods or Netherrack to make room.
