I really think that they should add the Hovering Inferno. They're going to fully release the update soon and the Hovering Inferno is a great idea. It's a mob that Mojang that was suggested before Update Aquatic. People voted and in the end... how can I say this... they chose the phantom. People thought the Phantom would be great, but honestly, it's just annoying.
The Hovering Inferno though, serves as a mini-boss, a nerfed version of the Blaze, with stronger attacks and can defend itself using shields. Honestly I think it should be added, as it gives players a reason to go to fortresses again, instead of ignoring them and looking at all the other new things.
But, it's Mojang's decision and I can't decide what they'll do. If they don't add it in, I'll just spend a couple of weeks making a mod that contains the Hovering Inferno, The Great Hunger and The Monster of the Ocean Depths so I can experience them.
I really love the fact you can toggle between red stone dots and crosses now, it makes engineering so much easier for us beginners
Um... Bedrock Players have been able to do crosses since the start of time. But Mojang are adding Bedrock features to Java to make it better, slowly, but surely.
It is out, technically. You have to join the Minecraft Windows 10 Beta, put on Experimental Features, and you have it. To join the Beta, download XBox Insider Hub, sign in, find Minecraft, join the Beta and restart your game. You can't join any servers in the beta. When you make a new world, but experimental features on. Or... just download the Nether Update addon by Logdotzip.
I'm shocked about how Mojang is introducing so many giant updates so fast, I think they should slow down a bit.
I agree, it gets hard to keep up if you do not play regularly and having weekly snapshots or prereleases makes it impossible to play worlds to completion if you do them.
On the other hand, most people want more content and the team is willing and able to put out superhumanly fast.
I think production will slow down once all major updates wanted are done, with the cave update being among the last ones people talk about a lot.

I guess I wouldn't mind if 1.17 is another bug fixing update with plenty of tweaks here and there.
[p]1.16, the first release of the Nether Update, will be a major update for Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft: Bedrock Edition themed around revamping the Nether. This update was announced at MINECON Live 2019, and is set to release sometime after the month of May 2020.[/p]

I was originally a bit sad that the Nether's theme was expanded beyond the purely magma/hellish theme, but I think I've come around to the new biomes.
What I am disappointed about, though, is that the Nether star has not been given new uses and that beacons are still a lackluster item.
I'm a bit surprised Mojang didn't expand or overhaul brewing as well; with all of the new types of fungus, it would have been the perfect time. Finally, I don't like the Netherite tier and I dislike the niche use of the smithing table. It seems odd that a villager who never interacts with Netherite requires such a workbench.
Overall, I like this update. It's not perfect, but I think it's done a good job at making the Nether more full of life and fun to explore.
When I first heard of the nether update, I wasn't sure how to feel. I was hoping for a cave update, but after seeing the new biomes and the new mobs, I was immediately on board. I'm so excited to explore the new nether biomes! I really hope either in this update or in a future update they add a tribute or a little easter egg for the zombie pigmen, since they've been in Minecraft since like 2010. It would really be a shame to see them disappear almost entirely.
As a person just getting back into Minecraft again...this update looks amazing! The Nether has always felt a little empty and lackluster, and it really seems like they've knocked it out of the ballpark to add content that is both unique and balanced. Can't wait for it to finally be released!

I would just like to note that I appreciate and respect Mojang's approach to the coming changes to gold XP farms (wherein the player will not automatically reap XP from nearby aggroed piglins). It's clear that they are quite exploitative, and while I love them simply because of how OP they are, I agree that the bug upon which these farms are based needs amending. On the topic of evolution, this is a balanced change - one that we've got some time to prepare for since it won't be coming in 1.16.
I did always wonder why it has taken them this long to notice, though - I mean, these farms have existed for many years. My current plan ergo might be to find new sustainable and balanced farm designs while in 1.16 before the changes come into effect. That way it's one less thing to fix.
1.16 is going to break so many things for me, so my approach to fix these things before updating is going to make the transition much smoother. I'd recommend this approach if you aren't in a rush to update (I will not update my world until a bulk of my farms/machines are 'primed' for 1.16).

LP series? Not my style! Video series? Closer, but not quite. Survival journal, maybe? That's better. Now in Season 4 of the Legends of Quintropolis Journal (<< click to view)!! World download and more can be found there.

I'm in full support of almost every feature they've added in 1.16 (though I thought they could do a little more), but I have found some balance problems:
1) Even with the decreased gold loot, nether gold still appears to be far too common. One vein can give me 2 or 3 blocks of gold if I mine it all. With fortune, it's probably much worse.
2) Bastions can be looted far too easily, due to the fact that piglin hostility can be avoided using a simple hopper, and that they tend to wander around instead of staying near the chests and gold. Either update piglin hostility or majorly debuff the loot you can get from a bastion (you might also want to make gold blocks less common).
3) The bartering system gives enchanted books too much, and it seems to serve as a better method to obtain ender pearls than the endermen themselves. It's also a very viable string and leather farm. The potions should be more common.

Remember those versions that minecraft pranked us with? Specifically:
Minecraft 2.0
Minecraft 1.VR-Pre1
Snapshot 15w14a
Minecraft 3D
Those are still downloadable! Watch this video for 2.0:
To download the other ones you need to make a folder in the versions folder for minecraft and put the client and JSON file for the versions in there. They all need to be named the same aside from file extensions. Once you do that, you will be able to choose that version when making a new profile with the minecraft launcher.
I updated my 1.15 game to 1.16 (after making a backup of course). I was disappointed to be attacked by piglins in an "old" 1.15 chunk. I was hoping not to have to wear gold in my already explored regions. I'm glad to have a big chunk of nether in the "old" style because it is less dangerous.
The Nether sounds were much creepier than in 1.15. Or maybe I just had the volume turned down before?
Just when I thought Java was almost finished, out comes a technical experiment, so
I'd say you're about right.

They really can't win. People complain if updates are too slow... So they speed up, and people complain updates are too fast.
One of my favorite things is that the nether doesn't look as ugly

Check out my suggestions! Here is one of them:

They haven't vanished, merely evolved, much like horses.

The Nether Update is going role out on June 23rd.
Source: https://twitter.com/Minecraft/status/1273299686770737153
How much you wanna bet we'll have a .1, .2, .3, etc to fix more bugs?
The more intricate the game gets the more problems it makes for itself.
I'm feeling it might go beyond, this update is pretty massive and even with all the bugs squashed more will inevitably pop up before and post release.
