Still not breeding, they eat the hay bales, get hearts, nuzzle, I heard a ping sound so they seem to have dropped XP, but no baby.
And then they don't take any more hay for a while.
Oh well, I managed to get a Respiration III helmet, even if only iron (and then I found a leather Respiration III helmet as a spare) so I've been out raiding ship wreaks and now have the full 15 bookshelves for my enchanting table so I don't need any more leather.
Checked the bug tracker, apparently they (and maybe normal llamas?) breed normally but the babies imeadiately despawn,
[it's supposed to be fixed in 1.14.2 (prerelease 2 but I can wait.)] Maybe? I can't find that claim again and comments on other related bugs seem to be saying that it's still being worked on.
Breeding the traders llama with a llama I found normally, resulted in baby. Was weird though, maybe I just don’t pay attention to my llamas when I breed them, but the traders llama walked away and the other llama followed.
Interesting, it may depend on which llama spawns the baby, which may depend on which llama you feed first.
They apparently have a fix for the despawning babies, presumably it will be included in 1.14.3 (if there is one) or 1.15
Meanwhile, the traders sure are careless with their llamas.
I now have 10 llamas and 10 leads with no further shenanigans on my part, though I do have a few boats parked in the area where they seem to spend the most time.
I just got a pair from freaked out trader, took them away tamed them and then bred them. htey bred true.

My previous visit from a wandering trader resulted in a llama getting left behind in 1.14
It despawned with 1.14.1, I hadn't tamed it.
Now I've got another wandering trader and have stolen his llamas, I trapped them in boats which caused the leads to break.
So now I've got 2 llamas and 2 leads (I haven't come across any slimes yet.)
I've tamed the llamas and fed them haybales which made them emit hearts and snuggle but didn't result in any babies?
So, can I expect them to breed if I keep trying?
Are they still going to despawn along with the trader even though they are off their leads and tamed?
I broke the boats after the first failed breeding attempt so the second attempt was on dry land.
Just testing.
Ok, the trader's gone, the llamas are still here.
