Do the different kinds of blocks and items still have numbers associated with them? If no, how does the creative inventory know how to order them?

If i recall correctly for a while the ids were both in number form and the minecraft:[blockname] format. But they said they would get rid of the numbers soon.

GENERATION 40: The first time you see this, copy it into your signature on any forum and add 1 to the generation. This is a Social experiment.
I assume the IDs are still used within java for ordering, maybe, but not in-game.
Each item ID has been made unique, so instead of 'stained_glass' with a number after it, you could write 'magenta_stained_glass'

The numbers have been removed and changed to label ID system to allow for more blocks to be added to the game.
