Look at minecraft.net, the post that says everything that was announced at earth. Steve's swimming looks a bit different? Maybe because of the trident but maybe a new swimming animation?
I don't really like the mod excuse because all too often new updates just make mods obsolete. I'd have to chose between using a mod and obsolete version of Minecraft or using the current version
A mod that restores Gameplay how it previously was, was what I ment.
It happened before.

I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!

The idea of the trident being dropped by Elder Guardians is a terrible one. Great for single player worlds, or servers with lots of space, but I play on a limited-border (50k) server world That opened 5 years ago. All the Elder Guardians are dead and all the monuments raided or turned into guardian farms.a second world was opened recently but again, limited world at 50k AND suffering from Mob Head Mania - doubly since Elder Guardians are at 1% rate.
I’m fine with it being /crafted/ with a rare drop from Guardians, but that’s the only thing that doesn’t completely screw over these kinds of server worlds.

So you don't think there should be new structures either? If you are playing on a limited sized world, you may not have room for new structures to generate.
You can't withhold features from the game to satisfy your niche issue. Plus, giving Elder Guardians a unique drop would give more purpose to conquering the Ocean Monuments.

Six on one hand, half a dozen on the other. You’re right, it’s a no-win situation.
But it it would be incredibly out of place to have an uncraftable weapon. I do understand the need for unique drops, but don’t think the answer is a weapon that’s more rare than sponges in-game. The enchantments are what makes the excitement about the trident so palpable, not the trident itself. The trident will most likely be - on its own - akin to a sword in damage, just with the added perk of being useable underwater. It’s the * enchantments * that allow a player to have it boomerang and whatever else it will be doing.
The enchantment books for them being a rare drop or hidden-room advance is both more likely and more reasonable.
I just wanted to point out the possibility of stone stairs in the future, just in case they get confirmed for the Update Aquatic. Take these pictures with a grain of salt.
You can see on the lefthand side a set of stairs. My first thought was that they were just stone brick, but after looking closer I noticed a lack of texture lines like in the stone brick beside it. So, I brightened the image.
No visible brick-seams. You can see some noise in odd stairs here and there, which seem to indicate perhaps a different stair like cobble or stone brick, perhaps?
Also, during the Super Duper Minecraft Musical, the first shot in an otherwise accurate Minecraft scene is this..
I get that it may just be artistic or something, but it may be foreshadow for future stairs? A stretch, I know. But interesting, yes? ^^
Also, just some reference images on stone brick stairs from (about) the same distance and angle.
Zoom in on these and you'll clearly see the seam lines for each brick.

In that same picture I've also noticed bark blocks - wooden log blocks with all sides bark. These can be placed by commands but can't be crafted in survival, so perhaps bark blocks will become craftable too?
That is, however, speculation - it's just as likely the structure in this picture was just built for the footage and they decided to use bark blocks to make it look nice.

That world is actually a Realms map. This explains the bark blocks and the nifty building going on.
For the stone stairs, it's probably related to custom block creation rather than the simple addition of standard blocks. They're currently working on reworking the command structure (the thing that will break everything all at once), which makes it a really great time to test and explore projects that relate to that.
Will the new ocean biome be integrated into the previous oceans, or will the world generator change, leaving ugly edges in the world?
I hope it will be the first variant...
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they already say that there will be several new ocean biomes that will replace or be integrated into the old oceans?
I actually think so.

I absolutely LOVE how they are making the ocean much more lively. It has always been a pretty boring place, with water, gravel, and squids. But now, it looks like a completely new world, just like the sea in real life. Dolphins, kelp forests, and coral reefs are JUST the things to spice up this otherwise boring biome.
And I've always been hoping for fish mobs in the game :D. Even better, how you can make aquariums with them.
Pack your Respiration helmets people, the adventure awaits!
you know i think this is the first time i have seen one of these threads that isn't spammed with upset people complaining and saying everything is ruined.
myself personally i am a fan of the new water because that has always bugged me and made some builds just look... odd. but i have taken a lot of lazy steps in builds in the past i will have to go and correct now.
mob B seems cool but also seems like something i will rarely run into with my gameplay style.
as far as the trident goes, i'd like to see them as a loot drop from elder guardians and a lower chance from there smaller counterparts.
place your bets now on how long it takes the combat update haters to spam everything

I am excited too, but I’m still hoping for sharks and whales.
...and a recipe has been added in 17w47b!
It's the same as crafting a crafting table except using four logs instead of four planks. You get 3 bark blocks per craft.

Just something to consider..
The quickest way to my heart is with a smile.
Oh, and a white-oak stake.

We can only hope, hm? I'll cross my fingers!

We might not need to hope. 17w47a just added bark blocks in item form! No crafting recipe... yet, though.
Girly squeak!

You should edit the slabs/buttons/trapdoors since it would appear its coming in 1.13 probably

Is that a worthy price?
