So recently I've been doing some testing with Custom Potions in 1.9, and I've been wondering how exactly the slowness and speed effects work with each other. I noticed that strength and weakness effects can combine together now due to their new mechanics, allowing for combinations like Strength 2 and Weakness 1 giving +2 damage to melee attacks. I began to wonder if that worked with Speed/slowness as well, but after some testing, it turns out that they don't work that way at all. In fact, I'm not even sure what the rules are. The only thing I can guess is that maybe slowness takes precedence over speed effects, but I honestly have no clue at all and was hoping I could get some external input.
