The community of Minecraft always called for an improvement in the fight, we all know this, and why now, after all the work that has been done to improve the fight, most of the players are hating? I can not understand, some say "It's the end of the PVP" "Better Version 1.7 for PVP" "Stop doing that," "RIP Minecraft servers" "RIP Minecraft". You prefer to continue with the Spam-Click? You prefer to take 20 hits in 2-3 seconds? Do you prefer take 50 hits in 2 seconds of players using "Forcefield"?
With 1.9, we have to use more strategy, we have to create our own way of fighting, using shields, axes, swords, potions. And that's not bad, is very good. There are many possibilities, better than keep clicking like crazy, until you have tendinitis or create corns on fingers.
What do you think about the 1.9?
NOTE: This thread is not limited in the new combat discussion (That was the central idea of the thread: "The anger of the majority of the players with new mechanical combat the 1.9"), but all discussions to 1.9 are welcome.
They don't like that it's making pvp harder. Most of the people who are hating on it are young and grew up with games that were easy and forgiving. Minecraft used to just be spam click a zombie and you win. Now, it actually takes some strategy, and most of those kids don't know how to play like that,
While I do like the updates thus far and understand that people don't like change, I do think a couple things are being handled poorly with the combat update.
Primarily the lack of attacks on the off-hand (meaning can't keep a sword in the off-hand to fend off monsters that interrupt your mining), the complete removal of defending with the sword to encourage use of shields (as opposed to a simple rebalance), and (one that annoys me most) the inability to use bows from the off-hand, meaning righties are forced to do left-handed archery and vice-versa.
Seriously, it'd be so much easier to switch arrow types on the fly to select them with the main hand and use the bow on the off-hand.
So yeah, it's partially people disliking change, and partially valid complaints.

I do agree with this in that a lot of games nowadays are SO easy compared to the ones in the beginning of gaming, really up to about the early 2000s. Games like the original Halo, Super Mario Bros., etc. were and ARE still challenging games. But now so many games you can breeze through with no problem, save some like Dark Souls.
I honestly welcome the changes to Minecraft's PvP; sure, it will make things more difficult and require everyone to re-learn it, but it will actually add some useful variety and unique-ness that just isn't there right now without mods.

Yeah, it does seem a bit silly to have made all of this off-hand stuff, when really it doesn't allow for too much other than shields. That said, it wouldn't make sense to have the off-hand bow - you can't fire a bow with one hand.
There are obviously some things that aren't quite perfect yet, but hopefully Mojang will continue to develop them and make it better before they release 1.9 officially.

I was just on a 1.9 snapshot server, and they were all enjoying the new pvp stuff. I think that the people that like all this new stuff are to busy doing it while the people that dislike it go one the forums to add constructive criticism/complain. (Mostly complain)
The new combat makes it very intense, battles last longer even if you have a sword and the other guy has a fist. I love it. But I still think it has some touching up to do.
After sustaining damage from any source, a mob will turn red in color for 0.5 seconds. During this period, any other incoming damage will not be counted against the mob's total health.
So much for spam-clicking.
Also, I'm still playing on an older version, prior to 1.7, which fixed a bug (note that the title is inconsistent with the original description, which did not mention Creative-mode players) that caused swords to lose durability even when hitting a mob while it was invulnerable - wasting durability (it is possible to click fast enough to break a new golden sword on a single zombie, which otherwise should be able to kill 6 zombies). The fact that I use Knockback on my sword is also a factor - hit a zombie once, then a few seconds later hit it again after it walks back to me, only clicking once each time, works well with several mobs as well, just hit each one in turn and let them walk up to you; for skeletons I either ambush them around a corner or use a bow, which already has a charging mechanic which reduces damage with attack speed (with a Power V bow fully charged shots are desired since they can kill mobs in one hit).
(the prevalence of spam-clicking can be seen in the comments on the bug report complaining about how fast their precious swords wore out - don't spam-click if you want your sword to last! Too bad they fixed this)
Situations where I've clicked fast enough to be considered "spam-clicking" are mainly the result of modifications I've done, such as making spawners spawn mobs like crazy to make dungeons harder, plus most of the zombies have full and higher tiers of armor due to changes I made to them as well as having regional difficulty max out after an initial ramp-up (and this is on Normal; Hard would be insane), independent of where you are, so that isn't representative of vanilla (and if I played in 1.9 mobs would barely exist since they haven't fixed a render distance bug yet, and in any case I wouldn't play in vanilla in any version since 1.7).

In the settings you can change what the "Main Hand", meaning you can shoot with a bow in the left hand and the right hand becomes the off-hand.
Though many people base games on PvP, Minecraft PvP, even with custom plugins or guns and stuff just isn't very good. I would love a change that would make Medieval based PvP (regular) a lot more fun, as right now, a lot of people use bots that automatically hit, because there's no speed limit, and even though I usually win in mini-games and stuff, it's not because of the skill in melee at all, it's because of bows or being fast and skilled, and trying to avoid straight up PvP.

Yes, and this is very good, more intense battles, fairer, more balanced, all fitting well in mechanics, but the big problem is that people do not like changes.

To be honest, there will always be haters and people that aren't used to change. Like, when in sword fightning, it doesn't works as a ''spam to win'' anymore, you have to be patient and make a strategy about when hitting your oponent and how much health will that take away. With sword and shield fights, now you have the option to attack and deflect the other's attack and take damage, but halved or to keep attacking but not very effectively and arrows with potion effects, which I see more as a support feature in coop maps. I like these additions, but there will always be many others that don't, and these we should ignore.
Even with the old system there was no way to deal "20 hits in 2-3 seconds". Why?
So much for spam-clicking.

Exactly, if the version continue with these changes, we will know who you really are good at PVP
I wouldn't say most people are hating the update, it's just that people who agree with the update typically say less than people who hate it. In similar discussions like this, I've seen most people supporting this update. The "haters" are just those people on twitter complaining because they refuse to learn new skills or don't realize they don't have to update to 1.9 , of course some people that do offer constructive criticism are also grouped under "12-year-old pvpers that are stupid."

That would then change my handedness for everything.
Meaning now I would be a leftie, but using right-handed archery.
And as my own dominant hand is the right, that would mean making everything else wrong just to make one thing right. (Pun not intended.)
So then what do you suggest be added?
Personally, I think the expansion they gave to the End is quite nice.
Ikr. I agree with more animals, as they didn't add anything for the 1.7, yet they added things like Savannah, but really, new ores? What do you suppose we do with those?
Like, if you watch this, you can see how fast I can sometimes click, but it still doesn't matter, people can kill you in two seconds.
