The community of Minecraft always called for an improvement in the fight, we all know this, and why now, after all the work that has been done to improve the fight, most of the players are hating? I can not understand, some say "It's the end of the PVP" "Better Version 1.7 for PVP" "Stop doing that," "RIP Minecraft servers" "RIP Minecraft". You prefer to continue with the Spam-Click? You prefer to take 20 hits in 2-3 seconds? Do you prefer take 50 hits in 2 seconds of players using "Forcefield"?
With 1.9, we have to use more strategy, we have to create our own way of fighting, using shields, axes, swords, potions. And that's not bad, is very good. There are many possibilities, better than keep clicking like crazy, until you have tendinitis or create corns on fingers.
What do you think about the 1.9?
these are some very good points i kinda follow the crowd of 1.9 haters and it was because i think Mojang is going i little overboard on all the combat changes
but it will be good as i once played on a server that because i have some internet lag always lost in pvp due to not as many clicks
Well, you can't really blame people for complaining. I'd be pretty annoyed if my favourite aspect of the game was changed and its original mechanics were completely removed.
but it will be good as i once played on a server that because i have some internet lag always lost in pvp due to not as many clicks
Lag doesn't make you click less, it just makes you attack with a delay. If anything, PvP is now going to be worse for players with laggy connections because of how you need to accurately time your attacks and blocks.
I don't like 1.9 so far because it adds nothing for me. I don't make a point to get to the end, so the end content is simply irrelevant to me considering how much work it takes to get there basically invalidates any rewards, save for possibly the beacon which they removed/wanted to remove anyways (they aren't even powerful enough that having them being rare in the end would ruin anything, not having it just guarantees most players will never use it in survival).
I only play SSP, the combat changes so far won't help me at all, and will probably become an annoyance because of the OP changes to zombies/combat that Dinnerbone made that basically turns Minecraft into a post-apocalyptic survival game rather than a sandbox block-building game with survival aspects tacked on. The changes to hunger+healing (regenerating health depletes saturation at an astounding rate) has made the hunger system like the old one where you constantly have to eat which kinda defeats the point. Zombies spawn so much it's easy to wear down or even break a stone or iron sword in one night if you actually fight them.
So with that, the only thing that could save 1.9 for me is resource pack changes: however, no new functionality is really added. Some things are easier now, but most models (ones with display settings, anyways) are broken, so my pack is fully borked with no benefit to me. On top of it, they're still adding to texture sheets that should have been unstitched with the resource pack format, instead they're using this old crufty workflow for GUI (and other) textures where we can't change individual resolutions, need to figure out exactly what/where a texture is, and they're wasting tons of space on some things because they're using 256x sheets for things that don't even have 8 16x icons. TL;DR: They're broke enough stuff to be annoying, but not enough to make 1.9 an actual "new" resource pack format that actually fixes past issues, meaning if they're ever fixed in the future it's more small annoying compatibility changes is the most annoying possible way.

We are so accustomed to spam-clicking, that 1.9 would be such a huge change. I personally don't like it because I PVP a lot on multiple servers, and so do many others. It requires skill to spam-click, and players would then have to slowly click so they can deal a mass amount of damage to others. Currently, many players aren't complaining to much about spam-clicking in 1.8, but these snapshots have caused many players to create rumors about the future 1.9. If you are play some sort of map which includes constant mob spawning, you would slowly have to pick the spawning mob off with your sword, which could cause the player to die a lot easier.
As I have already seen many people say, People don't like the change but I want to say it again, the new update I feel will take more strategy and quick thinking than just running up to someone and just overwhelming them with a million hits in a second (I know I'm exaggerating).what I'm trying to say is that mojang is making combat a lot more in depth, and I hope people understand that and don't complain about it.
Keep in mind that every update is not and end to itself, but a step to an end game strategy. So when you look at an update, ask yourself... what is this leading to? This appears to be a first step towards a class system, meanwhile there is talk of recoding MC. Why? Well if you consider them both, the future is interesting as it's what's needed to support an MMORPG, MC style with the sandbox element already present.
Dunno really, I like the fact that I actually died in a cave in iron armor for the first time in forever.
Agreed. This update is the answer for people that think Minecraft has become too boring and predictable. Speaking as someone that mostly does single player I like the added danger of being overwhelmed by mobs. The game needs strategy now at every stage.

I agree, I need something to do with my half a stack of diamond blocks! I love mining! (make more armor etc in case I die)
I always wanted SSP to get a bit harder and less predictable.
The community is so used to spam-clicking that those snapshots now seem like a huge change for the worse.
And I personally dont like it,because it slows the PvP and it makes it kinda boring (you hit,he hits you back, you hit again...)Mostly because the cooldown timer,on the weapons
Another thing I dont like is the fact that shovel and axe do more damage than swords!?!
But again, those are only snapshots,so everything is a subject to change,as Mojangs likes to hear some feedback
BTW,maybe only thing I really like are those new command blocks they added
1) People usually come to forums to complain, not to show appreciation.
2) It makes massive changes to a combat system that some people already find very good.
3) The snapshots are not balanced, so people are complaining about the balance of that, even though Mojang is careful to state after every snapshot this update that they are highly experimental. Also under the category of balance is that some people don't seem to understand that although axes have higher damage they have lower damage per second, which makes them inferior for most purposes.
4) I'm so used to spam-clicking in melee (not just in minecraft, but in Mount and Blade, DotA, TF2, etc) that this feels a little awkward at the moment.
5) It complicates controls, and makes "optimal moves" sometimes require difficult control combos, like f-5-f if you want to switch your off-hand item. This also feels awkward. It might seem like a small thing, but if you've played Wynncraft you might know how annoying a few extra buttons to press can be.
Just tell us how exactly it requires skill to spam-click? How? You just click as fast as you can, that doesn't require any skill at all, and reason why spam-clicking is nerfed is because of those who are tired to spam-clicking asked Mojang to get rid of such an annoyance. Like I said, it doesn't require any skill AT ALL. NONE. Many players aren't complaining too much about it in 1.8? Sure we don't see that, as it has been custom to PvP and PvE since start of the game. Still doesn't require any skill AT ALL! Get it? This change is beind made to get PvP more tactical, to require that skill you were talking about, skill to think strategically. Skill to block with shield when needed and skill to attack when needed. Sure, I don't care for PvP so these changes really doesn't change my experience of the game change that much, sure PvE will be harder, but MEH.
Technically speaking, clicking faster than someone else is skill.
But mechanical skill in video games is stupid. It's strategy we really care about, even in CoD.
Mechanical skill doesn't even apply here at all because mobs and players are invulnerable for a split second after taking damage, there's a point where the clicking speed doesn't matter and both players would be having the same attack interval regardless of click speed.

Looks like a ton of people think that is only an update for PvP, while it's not. It also will be for PvE. Really, people, before complaining check the snapshot and try to get used. Those who say "OH DAM ZOMBIES HORDE WILL KIL ME NOW AND I WIL BE DED, THIS UPDATE RUINED MC, NOOOOO", did you even know that there's a new defensive attack, that if you're standing or moving slowly, will knock back all enemies around you.
Seriously, I hate when those things happen because people don't even check.

"This is not a signature" - This statement is a paradox.

Yeah, but at most points that people play at skill is a large factor, especially due to blockhitting. At higher tiers it is a relatively small factor though.
I liked (and still like) 1.8 minecraft pvp! Don't get me wrong!
So yeah, I've been doing Survival mode with the new combat mechanics, and I have to say I've adjusted to them perfectly well.
The only overworld mob that gives me issues is the Skeleton, but that's because of the arrows and nothing to do with the new mechanics: I still kill them fairly quickly once I've closed the distance.
Then again, against most mobs, my combat style already heavily involved controlling the distance between me and them to keep outside their attack range while keeping them inside my attack range.
The new sword attack is pretty nice for dealing with multiple enemies at once.
And besides, regular zombies are incredibly slow. Lure them into water, and they practically can't move, making them easy pickin'.
Haven't gotten to the Nether yet on this playthrough though. I probably will still handle the zombie pigmen in a way that keeps them from swarming me.

What always happen in minecraft updates:
People #1: Nooo don't add this update, it will ruin minecraft
People #2: Yes add it, it will make the game even better
At last (after update official release)
People #1,#2: This is amazing, i love this update, i never doubt about mojang/microsoft at all
I'm just a very boring person.
