To be honest, there will always be haters and people that aren't used to change. Like, when in sword fightning, it doesn't works as a ''spam to win'' anymore, you have to be patient and make a strategy about when hitting your oponent and how much health will that take away. With sword and shield fights, now you have the option to attack and deflect the other's attack and take damage, but halved or to keep attacking but not very effectively and arrows with potion effects, which I see more as a support feature in coop maps. I like these additions, but there will always be many others that don't, and these we should ignore.

There are irrelevant, why Mojang would add + Animals + Ores, because first of all they have to have a function, and that's not easy to fit into the game, "Ah has a mod that adds 50 new minerals, we can do 50 new types of armor and tools "that would leave the flooded gameplay possibilities, and the ores would be basically a ctrl + c ctrl v, serving for the same things. Since the 1.9 came to change something that was simple: CLICK CLICK CLICK to something totally changed and revised, which is the combat.
i have been ages waiting for new ores, new animals, and a mining update, they could add a sort of drill that excavates por a period of time a large area for u to easely create a big mine, they could add a lot more animals in the game like bears, cougars etc instead of stupid mobs like the new mob that shoots you and makes u levitate, but thats just my opinion and also more realistic effects in caves i dunno and also change the trade sistem with the villagers

Every mob currently in the game has something that makes them distinct from other mobs, be it their drops or their behavior.
Even the Pig, obsoleted as both a food source (by the Cow) and as transportation (by the Horse), still has the distinction of being the only peaceful mob that has something special happen to them when they get struck by lightning.
I wouldn't say most people are hating the update, it's just that people who agree with the update typically say less than people who hate it. In similar discussions like this, I've seen most people supporting this update. The "haters" are just those people on twitter complaining because they refuse to learn new skills or don't realize they don't have to update to 1.9 , of course some people that do offer constructive criticism are also grouped under "12-year-old pvpers that are stupid."

The one person who talked about the better mouse is unfortunately for me, incorrect. I have one of the better gaming mice, but it's really just people who have auto-clickers and stuff. I type faster than probably 80%+ of the world and can do things with insane reaction time, but even with a really good mouse and fast clicking, you just can't win.

In 1.7, minecraft pvp was perfect. Sprint button, block hitting, etc.. They should have stopped pvp there, don't add anything new. But no, ofc they just had to add more things that are completely stupid and will ruin pvp.

The reason behind the complaints is that those players simply don't like the fact that now, if they want to avoid a fair fight, they have to think rather than spamming and using obvious bugs such as block hitting.
The only real problem I really have with 1.9 is that it didn't really add a new weapon (Althrough, thankfully, it still is a snapshot). While lingering potions are nice, the only other change is that axes are now a weapon AND a tool, which it shouldn't, both for logical reasons, and because it is a waste of a slot for a proper weapon, rather than a tool/weapon combination that still takes double damage if used as a weapon.

I honestly welcome the changes to Minecraft's PvP; sure, it will make things more difficult and require everyone to re-learn it, but it will actually add some useful variety and unique-ness that just isn't there right now without mods.
Players just don't do variety unless they feel that variant is an advantage or at worst not a disadvantage...or because they absolutely are forced to go the variant route (ie, maps and challenges). Most games are too fast-scaling for less-powerful aspects to be considered worth it, so unless we all suddenly become extremely secretive about whatever the best/most-efficient "thing" is, most everyone's going to end up with the same eq and using the same tactics and the complaints will start up all over again.

Well what is the best/most-efficient thing? With the off-hand, there are a ton of new combinations. Enderpearls, block-placing, potion/food consumption during combat, plus shields which complicate the matter even more. Very doubtful that everyone will end up with the same equipment, especially considering that there are different timings, which means a person can figure out how to take advantage of a particular timing even if it's not the most DPS.

Brown hearts are a damage indicator. If you see 2 hearts fly off a mob or player, they took about 2 hearts. People wanted damage indicators, Mojang doesn't want numbers flying across the screen, this was the solution.
