Ender Crystals will be craftable. That'll probably be how we spawn the Dragon without using that temporary clay creeper face method. I guess people who also would like to use them as decoration will get their wish as well.
The snapshots are extremely laggy for me, for absolutely no reasn too.
Snapshots are snapshots, remember. Snapshots are only looks inside the development at the time and for public test for bugs and new features. Not full releases. So don't be surprised if you encounter game breaking bugs or lag. As for most lag, it's likely due to a dated computer.

Okay, this probably sounds weird, but i'm using a computer that crashes halfway through loading on 1.8.5-1.8.7 and I can run snapshots 15w(insert ending here) with ~100 FPS.

1.8-1.8.4 are about 5 FPS average with optifine.
Ouch. That may be because they slightly optimized 1.9 a bit.
I really cannot wait until 1.9. I hope it's out soon because it looks and sounds really cool. I just wish that there were A: More things in the snapshots. Or More snapshots. But so far I'm pretty happy with what has been in the snapshots. The only thing is that when you combine a banner with a shield, the shields textures aren't as good as the banners. Other than that, I like everything so far.

I admit I really like the new shields but I feel there has to be some sort of drawback to using them. They seems slightly too powerful at this point with being able to negate all damage from skeletons arrows and over half the damage of melee mobs. They definitely need to be a bit weaker and get roughly that strong with high level enchantments.
Has anyone noticed that shulkers will now enter a minecart like other mobs and not be all buggy in 15w33c? Get ready for the custom maps with shulkers riding around in minecarts shooting at you!
First of all, you should say "I feel like", not "I feel", it's just better to say it that way.
Second of all, the durability and stuff on the shields is NOT final, in a future snapshot they will fix them, plus didn't you hear dinnerbone say "the stuff in 1.9 snapshots is NOT final"

More durability would be good as well.
Melee mobs require you to get into their melee range (which is shorter than your melee range) in order for the shield to make a difference. Usually, this means that the mob will not only land their initial hit, but possibly land extra hits due to the fact that they haven't been knocked back and are still moving at you while you're slowed to a crawl.
Meanwhile, spamclicking will prevent them from getting in range in the first place, resulting in no damage to yourself and a dead mob.
Shields are very useful against skeletons, but that's about it. Melee mobs are better fought by spamclicking, and non-skeleton ranged mobs have ways of bypassing shield protection entirely (guardians deal part of their damage as magic damage, ghasts and blazes inflict fire, shulkers inflict levitation and are counted as melee attacks probably due to a bug/oversight). That said it's a huge step up from sword blocking.

Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?

Fair enough, I did not think of it that way. Thank you for pointing this out.
Melee combat changes, new mobs, blocks and potions, rebalancing the game, because Mojang said those things.
"This is not a signature" - This statement is a paradox.

Ready for it...

e
snapshots are often laggy, glitched, and they crash a lot.
Not for me :/

Figured it was time for a change.

In other news, Searge is changing up command blocks. https://twitter.com/SeargeDP?original_referer=https://mojang.com/&tw_i=633266103574245376&tw_p=embeddedtimeline&tw_w=530339483808301056
As a command blocker myself I'm not sure I like where this is going. At the same time I am excited for new stuff.
Figured it was time for a change.
Whatever it is that is being added to command blocks, I hope it makes it possible to make command block creations more compact/powerful/efficient/etc.
And I wonder if that texture he posted was a new command block texture or the texture for a NEW TYPE OF COMMAND BLOCK...
Wish placing blocks directionally was easier? Check out this suggestion!

There should be a shield that deflects arrows and shoots them back at skeletons.
