If you buff the current mobs, the beggining of the game will be extremely hard. A huge wave of zombies at your spawn is already annoying.
That's because Mojang can't design gameplay mechanics to save their lives: how many games let almost all foes spawn everywhere and since the very beginning? If they have no idea what "progression" means, blame them.

Lag issues? I haven't noticed anything major so far...
Not to mention the update won't be released until late fall if not later than that. With that said it's a bit early to say that it will suck.
There has never been a lag issue since 1.5, so i actually think they are not going to add anything to advanced into the game thats going to lag the server. Also its all about the connection you have to the mojang office in Sweden. So yeah, i think they've fixed the bug since 1.5 and there wont be lag on the new update!

I called it. Heh. (signature) Lets see what else I was right on. The combat mechanics of the game are being revamped starting with the weapons. The arrows appear to be slow, fire, and poison. But it would be interesting if they were not obvious ones. Like, blindness, hunger, glowing arrow (makes them glow and easier to find), and weakness.
If the redish orange ones were* fire- this may mean they're removing that as a buff from the bow- of the enchantment just lights things on fire (tnt) where as the arrows light people and mobs on fire.
I'm looking forward to the new arrows, but have you guys already thought about that:
If you are using a fire/poison/slowness/...-arrow and hit you enemy one time, the effect of this will stay a certain period of time.
Now I'm sure the new arrows are sgnificantly more expensive than the normal ones. So if you've poisoned your enemy or set it on fire, you would normally want to continue shooting with your normal arrows instead of the special ones, as the effect is already there.
If you would have to go in your inventory and swap the arrows from the quiver every time you face an enemy with the bow, this would get really annoying!
I hope the guys at Mojang also consider that while they tweak the arrows.

GENERATION 28: When you see this put it in your signature and add 1 to the generation.
I think 1.9 could be fantastic. With the new arrows, quiver and shields, combat will be good. Now, if they can optimize combat and mobs, that would make 1.9 awesome!

If they don't do anything to fix their AI or difficulty, they will become even more of a joke, to the point where they migheswell not even exist. However, if they make mobs actual threats again, like they were before The Adventure Update...hell, it might even restore my faith in Mojang.

I agree. Even with a wooden sword, most mob's don't stand a chance. We need mob diversity. Maybe as your survival game advances, mobs get more clever. Maybe zombie raids on your base!

There has never been a lag issue since 1.5, so i actually think they are not going to add anything to advanced into the game thats going to lag the server. Dinnerbone has added alot of great things.
Once my Chosen Mods are out on 1.8 I will totally switch up.
