As great as terrain generation/mapmaker/horse/redstone updates are, I agree that 1.9 will be very influential. A revamped combat system is just what we need!

Minecraft is not medieval-themed!!! As a matter of fact, it doesn't have a set time. And when and WHY did putting reponses in the quote, especially long ones, become a trend in the Suggestions? It's rather inconvenient, mainly since the OP has to gather your quote up manually. Avatar made by Endergirl!

So I was working on this really cool resource pack a while ago, but bad progress nonwithstanding, I think I found something much better... I'm probably gonna never release another custom Minecraft map.Until we meet again...
Okay, so a new block that has visual changes to the world, which isn't obtainable in any way (based on the tweet), paved dirt, shields, quivers and arrows, a revamped EnderDragon, Entity Model changes with resource packs, new Command Block GUI, new cloud rendering system, and multiple boss health bars...
I think this about summarizes what planned features we've seen so far. Pretty damn good looking update, if I do say so myself.
Now all we need are potion aspects to weapons, spears for long ranged combat on horses, enchantable horse armor, Mod API, and maybe some more optimizations? I don't know. The last two are a pretty big must-have, in my opinion.
Come to think of it with these features if they aren't Red Herrings, this is actually quite a lot considering we haven't even got a single snapshot and already all these features are confirmed! Makes me wonder what full 1.9 will be like. Lotta content. o.o

Wawawawaait! Remember in the April Fools update, where bows and arrows were hearts? Those hearts most likely were covering up something, like this sneak peek. Though, the swords did too, so there might be that... Creepers had smiling faces, making it so that one of the arrows was explosive. Iron golems had smiling faces, leading to the stronger combat, most likely that bulky gold arrow. Then, the clouds had hearts, which led to... You know what.

At this point, anything is a mod so just about anything Mojang adds will be from some mod. Hey, at least we get some arrow diversity.
