I am quite disappointed that during this year, many mods were released this year that hold much more interesting and useful content than our lame 300 day update.
Oh well then. You didn't like what was in the update, some did. There's no changing it now. You can't expect every update to please you.
If they are creating more bugs than they are fixing they ought to put down the rabbits and other half baked junk and go back to school and learn Coding 101.
Or, at least pick up a "Dummies" book.
You don't get it.. No matter how masterful you are at coding, a code will almost ALWAYS conflict with another code. Most times, it doesn't say what the bug is just the general area and sometimes not even that. This is the reason they release snapshots in the first place with little bits of content at a time, so they can see if they add, say, Rabbits.. and doors start to bug out, then they know where to look. Make sense?
So that negates anyone's right to complain about anything, ever. Because you can always say "well if you can't make it yourself, you shouldn't complain."
Well, how about applying that same logic to yourself? Stop complaining about other people. When you can create a perfect human being, then you have a right to say something. Until then, cork your fork hole.
See how that argument works? Meaning, it doesn't.
Mojang makes millions and millions just on the licensing of plush dolls and toys. That money is clearly NOT being put back into the development effort.
I think you misunderstood me, and that's fine. I did not say people did have the right to complain. I just think that you can't justify that the update taking 300 days was way to long if you don't have the knowledge of how big the code is or how complicated it has become, how many variables it has, and so on. Any person has the perfect right to complain, but I am saying everyone should consider the fact that Minecraft is a HUGE game, for one. and to have 9 people on ONE code, at ONCE, that can be hectic on it's own if not managed correctly.
Let's see, 1.8 was supposed to be LAG FREE! Not happening? COMPLAIN TO THE OPTIFINE PEOPLE! Wait. Optifine people selling a cape? See the problem here? One breaks the rule's, and one takes others stuff. Where is Notch when you need him?
Why should have that taken a whole year? Most redstone updates are just quick, but never have I experienced something like these take a year.
Yeah... A year is a long time for it being minecraft. The last updates came out so much faster. I get the whole spread it out idea but, the time was just horrible.
I may or may not be the first to post this, i'm not going to red through 11 pages just to find out.
While you might not like 1.8, remember that Minecraft is finished, it has officially launched. Anything past 1.0 (non alpha/Beta - I.E. the last 8 updates), are not contractually obligated by Mojang. They continue to support a hugely popular game because they want to.
As a mid-Alpha adopter (alpha 1.2-ish) don't play Minecraft all that often anymore, but I am thankful that they continue, and plan to continue to support Minecraft. It could have ended with 1.0
Well, this update brings a lot to some things, but needs a better explanation. Maybe there should be a explanation to why 1.8 could not get optifine implanted. There is some sort of reason, but I think it ties with the new EULA.

Yes, you're the 10th person to post something like that in this thread. Those amount of changes are very little and uninteresting for 9 months wait.

Uninteresting for you perhaps, but this update doesn't have a specific goal. It's an all around update that covers most areas of the game with small and larger changes (Hence "The Bountiful Update"). It covers survival, building, map making, and most important code re-writes, it doesn't expand majorly on one subject in the game like the Redstone Update or The Update that Changed the World, and therefore may not appeal to a lot of people. Maybe you'll be satisfied in an update with a specific focus where it looks like a lot is done, but this doesn't appear to be one of them.
People should be greatful for them still updating this game!! They could Go the DLC route and charge money for there work. I've been playing for over 2 years and its the best money I have every spent on a single game.
The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.

God, I'm personally disappointed in you all.
Obviously, it is lost on you how much work the Mojangsters do for us and how much they actually listen to our community. I, for one, am thrilled with all the things they've added. Things like a new ocean mob, tweaks to commands, lag reduction by more than half, mutton, iron trap doors, and slime blocks have all been suggestions from the community. Obviously, Mojang cannot cater to millions of players' requests. It is okay to be feeling disappointed, however not okay to criticize or feel like you are the only one with any input. The fact that it took a year was simply to do with the MASSIVE amount of things that were added. Things that you don't necessarily see. FPS improvements, realms tweaks, a COMPLETE OVERHAUL of the id system. I'd like to see you try to recode something like that in any small amount of time. Please try to think more about the amazing work they do at Mojang, instead of putting them down due to personal preference.

*sigh* WE ARE NOT SAYING THEY SHOULDN'T UPDATE IT!
We are simply saying that we are disappointed of the update for its small amount of useful features, which is a valid reason we have the right to explain.
It is truly a stupid update, and you just haven't yet noticed how it doesn't improve gameplay.

i think we should all use common sense and logic when we answer and ask a question but always stay open minded
just cause science fails to explain something does not mean its real (afterlife, big foot, ghosts etc..) does not mean its fake try to stay opened mined instead of closed
other updates which have took less time to come out have had way more content and better content as well
to be honest this update rivals beta 1.8 update on how bad it was (beta 1.8 is by far the worst update i have seen)

I'm not really sure whether the skin should be called Alex or Alexa

It's not weather or not it can be made, but incorporated into the rest of minecraft correctly and efficiently.
And? It fits, it's basically copy/pasted code, and my point is it can be done in about a day. Which you seemed to have missed.

What code is copy and pasted?

Agreed, there must be some curse of updates with the number "1.8"
