I honestly wish you guys would shut up already. This topic has over 50 pages and 1000 posts. Everything has been said already. No further points can be made For some, this was a great update, for others it took to long and added more lag. Let's be civil and not make points which have been already mentioned in the 1000+ posts.

but some times those complaints can be very helpful
for example they did ruin the terrain a few times (beta 1.8 that awful thing and then the 1.7) but by people stating there opinions we got an option to customize are terrain i doubt if ever one said the terrain is awesome we would have gotten that feature

LOL, probably half or more of those posts are from people complaining about "complainers". I would like to use this opportunity to complain about the complainers that complain about complainers.
These threads would be a LOT shorter and FAR less contentious if people would just let people blow off their steam in them and stop trying to shut them up.. Instead of trying to derail legitimate reports and complaints, perhaps just create a separate thread talking about how much you enjoy certain features and how you have been using them. I think you will accomplish far more with such creativity than by hanging out and starting fights in threads you don't like.

Now that I think about it that's true. Complaining about complainers complaining about other complainers complaints! But yes, someone has to disagree and start a 10 page fight.

But just constantly complaining about what Mojang has done to make Minecraft better just because you don't like it or your computer doesn't agree with it just stop man maybe get a better computer if its lag or if not theres not much the community can do about it. The sooner you learn that in the Minecraft community the better see you made a 58 page long thread of complaints, just again Keep it to yourself there is nothing you can do aboutit.
get a better computer if its lag or if not theres not much the community can do about it.again Keep it to yourself there is nothing you can do aboutit.
LOL! That right there is the distilled wisdom of all those unimaginative people who keep trying to shut everyone else up summarized for all to see. Thank you for delivering this Sermon of censorship and lost hope to us at just the perfect time. Where oh where do I start?
First: Yes, yes there is something the community CAN do and SHOULD do. People can compare experiences and see if there is a temporary fix that can help people, like changing certain settings or updating java or praying to Cthulhu or something. When it is determined that there is clearly a bug the group can then try to define as clearly as is possible what the conditions are that lead to the problem so that when an official bug-report is submitted Mojang will have as much as is possible to work with in tracking the problem. Also; the forum is the place where others with the same problem will see the described symptoms and learn about the specific bug report so that they can then UPVOTE that bug in the bug tracker so that Mojang knows many people are having this problem and will be more likely to work on it. Devs, even if they know about a bug, won't always bother trying to fix it if they think it doesn't affect many people.
Unfortunately even that doesn't always work to motivate Mojang, for whatever reason. That is then where another part of the Community really steps up and shines, and where people talking about these problems on the forums can give rise to these other community-solutions:
Second:Yes, there is even MORE that the community CAN do, the Modding community. Clearly you have given up all hope. But lose not hope ye of little faith! For a portion of the community is made up of people of action, people of tenacity and brains who do not merely sit on our hands and mumble to ourselves that all is lost. Any number of problems with Minecraft that have not been addressed by Mojang either in a timely fashion or ever have been dealt with by modders and even people who never were modders but just simply got fed up and took things into their own hands. - These fixes are sometimes copied by Mojang into the vanilla version for the benefit of all.
For instance; there was a nasty world corrupting bug a few versions ago that had been reported through the official bug tracker and with instructions for how to reproduce it. BUT, somehow Mojang just kept ignoring it despite even tweets and many attempts to get them to fix it. They even declared that they had released the last point version of the series and wouldn't bother with any more.. What made it worse is that only a few people at that time had encountered it, so of course people like you kept telling them to shut up and buy new computers.
So one of our group who had proof of the problem dug into the minecraft code and found the problem. It was reported. Mojang still said no more updates.. So he went ahead and made a bug-fix mod which I then advertised as widely as possible. That finally got Mojangs attention, either through embarrassment or whatever and they released an unplanned last minute final update for that version series in order to include the fix for that bug. It turns out that it was actually a pretty nasty yet easy to fix bug that would have eventually corrupted and destroyed many peoples worlds over time.
* And a timely example about the current LAG problem you yourself mentioned..
So, just spend money we don't have on a new computer to HOPEFULLY fix the 1.8 water-lag? Even when there are people with brand new systems more powerful than even mojang uses that are also having this problem? Even though 1.7.10 works perfectly for us? No thank you. So, despite a thread being made where people did exhaustive unpaid tests in collaboration and posted pics with stats and everything and linked all this to the official bug report.. update after update there is no mention of this from mojang and no fix made. And despite it ruining the Monthly PAID-FOR REALMS that we bought, because they FORCE our Realm servers to update right away, there is still no mention at all from mojang and NO fix. AND no refunds of our money, due to which I will never buy a Realm again.
Fortunately; because of people being FREE to post their experiences and complaints the modding community knows about this problem which has resulted in the author of the well-known OptiFine Mod apparently having found the bug as well as a way to fix it and INCLUDED a way to fix it with his mod! (Turn Off Water-Particles btw). Hopefully this will now end up with Mojang including a permanent fix in the vanilla release.
Third:None of the above could or would ever happen if we all just SHUT UP and wallow in our misery. These forums, all forums, exist for a reason. People "complaining" is a sign of a properly functioning forum. Sure, it's not always pretty, but that's due to how these systems are organized. If you don't like it then feel free to stop reading these kinds of threads.
Perhaps you guys could take a deep long look within yourselves and try to figure out what exactly it is that is compulsively making you attack within these threads and shut people up. You might be surprised at what the answer is. I'll let you find it for yourself.

Dude except for fixing bugs Mojang as someone said just works on making new updates there are still bugs from 1.7 that they didn't fix and yes we can complain about it but Mojang rarely if at all looks at the forums, and not a lot of people want to go through modding and getting mods plus you can't play most servers with most mods.
I am going to have to agree with this forum that 1.8 was a disappointing update and the fact that it took a whole year to create it was a huge let down to the game.
You're not agreeing with the forum, I'm in the forum and I think 1.8 is an amazing update. The amount of engineering that went into it is astounding.
uh i think its clear that a big part of the community have an awful time with 1.8 with the lag and all that but on the polls it seems that 60% or more of the user who vote have a negative time with the update which if over 51% of the people on the forum means that the forums think that this update was a fail. but when you said "the amount of engineering that went into it is astounding" really helps prove the point that your a minecraft fan boy, this update took almost a year and it added nothing big or new, i can think of a lot of updates that came out a lot faster and added much more content (beta 1.8 for example it took what 4 months and then it changed the game forever [even though that update was bad and awful])

That is very true on many facts you have stated and that the 1.8 update was very disappointed in many different ways
Why does everyone hate 1.8 so much? It's really not that bad! Is it because bukkit just won't bother to update to 1.8, or because Microsoft bought Mojang? Seriously, people, Microsoft isn't that bad... They blew a cool 2.5 BILLION dollars on this game. Do you really think they're just gonna trash it?
1.6-Horses suck!
1.7- The terrain has been ruined!
1.8- Oh the horrible lag!
See, every update is complained about
