Fair enough. I'm just pointing out that it's a tad hypocritical to criticize someone for liking a specific version and then doing it yourself. But you are entitled to your own opinion.
The new EULA applies to ALL servers, not just 1.8.
Actually, 1.7.9. and below do not have you agree with the EULA. They had it on a hidden page. 1.7.10 and above require you to accept it.

Hey, please check these links out if you're looking for a unique Minecraft server:
I would just like to say, there is no way my PC shouldn't be able to run Minecraft at 60 FPS, yet it can't. At the same time, it's running Battlefield 3 on Ultra at a decent FPS, and on High setting with 60 on 1080p.

i think we should all use common sense and logic when we answer and ask a question but always stay open minded
just cause science fails to explain something does not mean its real (afterlife, big foot, ghosts etc..) does not mean its fake try to stay opened mined instead of closed

Trollsack just started a useless thread, I hope when he reads my post he locks this thread
If you have a bad old PC that lags in 1.8, it's not Mojang's fault, my PC is running 16 - 32 chunks nicely now
why would he lock it when you said it should be locked? you know ho many others asked before. plus lots of pc can run games like bf4 and all that fine yet have trouble running minecraft..

Again, just downgrade to 1.7. Why you haven't done this and instead have complained about lag on this thread every single post eludes me. I'll gladly walk you through the process if you don't know how. If you DO know how, then you have no reason to complain.

like i said i mostly play on beta but i do like to play on latter updates and this one is almost unplayable which is sad to see

And? You're sad. Boohoo. Instead of complaining on a forum Mojang never checks you could attempt to talk to them on their email, or even reddit. I don't know if you've noticed, but you have complained for 32 pages straight and it has accomplished nothing.

Okay, you don't have to insult him. Apparently, Mojang DOES listen to the forum, otherwise they wouldn't have added mutton and colored glass, which have been suggested by the community for a while.
Mutton and colored glass were suggestions, unlike this thread, which is just a complaint about lag. I think Mojang has better things to do then look at a 1.8 bashing thread.
You all are not realizing on main thing, you expect physical features and more content. Right? But do you know what these features mean? LAG! These features are the core of your problems! If we stripped a handful of Minecraft's current features from the game, it would run flawlessly. This is why Mojang has to constantly make optimizations! The more content the more bugs. The more content the more lag. The more content the more incompatibilities between entities and blocks. You see now? Mojang needs to take the time to fix these bugs, incompatibilities, and lag. Would you want a bunch of content but more lag?
Short Version: The more content the more lag, incompatibillities, and bugs. Mojang took a year to fix most of them.

THIS thread is pointing out the many flaws in the update so when/if mojang looks at this thread they will see the problem i mean over 700 posts doesn't mean a thing its not like i don't know 4 or 5 or 10 posts

I don't buy any of that; why would adding some new blocks and mobs cause so much lag? Sure, maybe if the new blocks did something resource-heavy, or they decided to add in some new AI (like zombies in 1.6, which cause server lag when they can't reach you; they did update all mobs to a "new" AI but most mobs already used it) but they didn't add anything of that sort. I doubt rabbits need more resources than other passive mobs, same for guardians (which aren't even around in most areas because they only spawn near ocean monuments) and the new stones, slime blocks, prismarine, etc don't actively update themselves (some have animated textures but not like water/lava, far more common, caused lag before or even now).
Well, maybe generating all those new stones can increase chunk generation time but that alone can't account for how slow chunk generation is (I noticed this myself when modding but was able to greatly reduce it by only changing metadata (possible because they are just variants of stone and only replace stone), not entire blocks, when placing them, and either way the effect was much smaller than the huge increase in world generation time in 1.8). Similarly, adding new biomes (none of which was added in 1.8) can also slow things down, but most of the slowdown seen in 1.6-1.7 is attributable to increasing terrain height from 128 blocks to 256 blocks (due to needing to go through twice the amount of data to store terrain information during generation, even if it is mostly still near sea level), which I saw myself when I modded 1.6 to allow max-height terrain, and 1.8 is MUCH slower than any of these factors can account for; adding world customization also shouldn't cause problems if done right (makes me wonder if the game is interpreting the presets, including defaults for default worlds, on the fly, instead of just once and keeping the values in variables; I know some of the values being set are speed-critical).
Indeed, if I can mod many 1.7 and even some 1.8 features into 1.6.4 without causing lag (my mod source code is over a megabyte, that's how much I changed/added) Mojang should be able to do the same; my 1.6.4 game runs an order of magnitude (that's 10 times) better in terms of server performance with the same number of loaded chunks. Did Mojang add 10 times more features in 1.8 over what existed before? I don't think so...
No, the real problem is that they changed the rendering, chunk update (FPS is good until chunk updates occur, older versions didn't have problems maintaining good FPS, and let me remind you again this is on the same settings and new stuff added can't explain this) and game logic code itself, in a way that is far more resource intensive. Sure, it may run better on certain computers, and I know it can be a problem optimizing a game to run well on many different systems but they shouldn't design for a particular setup.
well i think 1.8 {no offence} is horrible i want to quit now becuase theres no piont i cant do anything no servers and it keeps changing my own worlrds

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
