its ok if you like the update, i can bet that MAINSTREAM group (the hard core fan boys the big youtubers will say how they like the game) but the thing its us the people who stand up and say we don't like this update that give the best feed back we will say what we dont like about the update then if mojang looks at are complaints it helps them look at the next update to help make what they need to fix, if we all say we love the update then they will just make more updates like this but if we say we dont like it then for the next update they can make it even better.
you can think what even you want of what i said but please try to think of the other side and about negative feed back giving the game better future updates

But the fact is that Mojang isn't going to go on some random 1.8 bashing thread on the Minecraft forums and look at every single one of your rants and complaints. And its probably because their still coding and working for ungrateful players like you.
I just discovered an annoying issue, not sure if it has been mentioned; when I stand in or go under water the sky darkens like it does when under an overhang (I set render distance to 6 chunks to reduce lag, which intensifies the darkening effect):
Standing in a 1 block deep hole (1 block below sea level):
Standing in 1 block deep water (same level as above):
Immediately after surfacing:
Not really a problem but they should just remove the darkening sky completely (after all, they removed void fog) and just have fog get darker deeper down (the intent was to prevent long tunnels underground from showing the sky).

me ungrateful am the one giving feed back saying that its not good
there is something called construed criticism you know right? if every one says that this update is the best update of all time and every thing is just peachy then how could they make it better? they need the criticism to make the game better so when the next update comes out and its awesome you can thank the people like me who pointed out what wrong so they could improve it ya that's totally ungrateful...

Something that annoys my brother and I a lot is how they removed anisotropic filtering because it didn't like their new renderer. Now things look blurry and bad, but if we enable it in the NVidia control panel, there are stupid grids and weird glitches everywhere. That's mojang, instead of making it work, they remove it. Bravo.
A screen doesn't work on a TV, remove the screen and sell it right?

But your criticism isn't even constructive. All you're doing is whining about lag.
They just added Wedge, a mod created my TheMogMiner himself, without even making it user-friendly. I mean, it's already quite sad they keep taking mods into the game instead of creating something you would expect from a paid professional but they took months to implement code wrote by one of them and they even didn't think of revamping it to make it simpler, more intuitive and more powerful; for example, try having a map with not many caves, high rolling hills and large flat beaches: it takes hours of frustrating trial and error to realize it's goddamn impossible.
And don't even get me started on the "optimization" that is making the game almost impossible to play on my old laptop that used to run 1.6.4 just fine.
The above represent 90% of the update from the perspective of someone who just wants to play the game and not make it prettier or more fit to a plugin API that is going to happen so late it'll probably be irrelevant. It's disappointing to say the least.
Yeah tell me about it, good old days of 1.6.3 then lagfest from there, and plus ****ing VOB isn't working for **** anymore. Hell, and I am not even complaining about the rest of the ****, cause if I don't want to use it, I won't. Don't play it if you don't like it. I got my $25 worth in 1.2.5. So shh.

I try not to reply to posts sans grammar, but I'll make an exception: the only thing they'll care about is if you upgrade. If you upgrade, you're obviously agreeing 1.8 is better than 1.7. The only thing that would worry them is if a large number of people refused to use 1.8.
But your criticism isn't even constructive. All you're doing is whining about lag.
lag can ruin a game it needs to be fixed to be honest minecraft can be one of the best games of all time then in minutes the lag and issues make it unplayable been like that since alpha over 4 years ago. like i said LAG RUINS GAMES

There is literally no reason to continue developing for Mojang.
This is simply not true. There are many reasons as to why Mojang continue producing updates. One of the major reasons is profit; Mojang's top-selling game is indeed Minecraft. Create a stationary atmosphere, and sales drop. Not a wise decision. However, it does amuse me that the updates are not your normal paid DLC, and are actually free, unlike most popular games. We can all thank them for that, but we can't go on and say they are pure and that they're doing this from the bottom of their heart.

Then why waste time here? You are not efficiently making use of this time, when you can be creating something fundamental to aid your needs; such as a bug report. When there's hundreds of more things added to a game, you can obviously expect the game to run on more resources. It's simply, indeed, not the same as Alpha.

I'm sure that all of us, the devs especially, are aware that lag is a bad thing. We don't need people like you to say it over and over again for no reason. They try to fix it. They don't need your input on whether or not they should leave lag in the game.
I found another potential bug; I was randomly going through a mineshaft/caves in Creative on a fresh 1.8 world (so nothing from older versions) and I noticed this error in the launcher console:
[18:15:02] [Client thread/ERROR]: Item entity 100842 has no item?!
In other words, the game encountered an item that has an unknown item ID associated with it; more concerning is the fact that I know the game regenerates chunks when this happens as it throws away the entire chunk as corrupt (at least in older versions). I did find some bug reports on this, such as this one, but they were just marked as duplicates of an issue involving custom/modded mob spawners - which is most certainly not an issue here (plus it only happened once, didn't see anything weird around that time like the first report, but once is one time too much).
Also, most of the torches in the mineshaft seem to have fallen to the ground; and sure enough, I found this unresolved bug report, which seems to affect torches placed on the sides of blocks in any naturally generated structure (in a snapshot I saw this in a stronghold with only upright torches unaffected; I assumed they would fix this).
In addition, this bug report is shocking - they were literally too lazy to fix a very easy to fix bug, now over half a year old (see this comment; they literally just omitted a minus sign when rewriting the code) before the final release! Don't explore the Nether until this gets fixed unless you don't need glowstone.
I thought they said they fixed many bugs in this update...
Feature-wise, it's better than most post-release updates. That isn't saying much, because most of the recent updates suck royally or don't do much for the game (or harm the game in some obscure way, like r1.7 not fixing the terrain generator, thus preventing an update that actually fixes the terrain generator from coming out for a very long time). On the other hand, it has merely slightly more survival-related features as other, shorter updates do, and it's primarily focused on building and mapmaking; two aspects of the game that should be Mojang's lowest priority to improve since they, unlike most of the game, are actually of pretty decent quality. It's also apparently about as stable as a cup of pudding on the tip of Octodad's rapier whilst he is engaged in a swordfight on top of the crow's nest of a pirate ship in the middle of a hurricane (I say "apparently" because I haven't tried the released version yet).
In other words, pretty meh, like most updates. If only they would get their priorities straight and not push out an update chock full of bugs focused on aspects of Minecraft that really don't need improving right now.

Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?
If someone buys 1.8 they are getting a crap product.
And if they don't like it, They can switch back to older versions. Pretty ironic how you're sitting here yelling about how the devs are lazy idiots when they put in a feature specifically for people like you, who wanted the older versions. I am honestly convinced at this point that they could cater to you're every whim and you would still find something to complain about.
Bug reporting is a useless endeavor when the lazy programmers start marking bugs as "WAI"
And making and continuing a thread entirely for the point of hating the devs and new updates is also a useless endeavor. Yet here you are.
In other words, pretty meh, like most updates. If only they would get their priorities straight and not push out an update chock full of bugs focused on aspects of Minecraft that really don't need improving right now.
Except that logic is contradictory for many others; which the given time in attempting a fix on these bugs would continue the widespread of "1 YEAR IS NOT WORTH IT!".
If someone buys 1.8 they are getting a crap product.
No one bought 1.8. We bought the game for what it was then, not what it is now.
However, such claim is highly subjective, and yet it is treated as a significant fact. Please post real criticism, not this useless comment which is of no necessity to anyone.
