Why is it that Mojang always "fixes" things by doing the exact opposite of what people ask for? Was it that hard for them to read the whole thread instead of glancing at it and going "Welp, lezz just take da door models 'way. Dey don' wannit."
I believe the doors should stay the way they are currently (not 3D). I think this way because 3D models can cause lag on less powerful machines and you can make them 3D on your own if you want.
Very true. You can always have texture pack makers make the doors 3D again, but still, Mojang should really have an explanation for this stuff.

The reason Godzilla 2014 failed was because there was no Mothra in it.
Mothra is the only reason Godzilla is good. Mothra saved the movie industry. If Mothra never existed nobody would like movies. The reason many people hate Call of Duty is because it lacks Mothra.
I changed my name to MothraFanboy27.
Most of people don't feel like downloading a resource pack and choosing it every time they want to play.
Someone who understands why would you expect someone to get the doors in a resource pack if Mojang can provide the 3D doors and better spites. I mean that I could make a better texture and I have no graphic design experience.

You can get them from the other snapshot but guess wat? Im too lazy to do anything.

They can never win , no matter what they do...Make the doors 3d and people will cry "its not minecraft!" , change them back and people complain .
Just like when they improved the sun and moon and made them "more round" in appearance...people cried and screamed their heads off..."its not minecraft!" even though they were not truly circle and where still made of blocks..they were a major improvement...but most people did not see it as that for whatever moronic reason...
Same as the sun and moon....have to use a resource pack to get what you want
The models still exist in 32d. Make yourself a resource pack and quit complaining. Seriously.
They never should have made them 3d in the first place. That is for packs.
What's wrong with making the default pack look good? And why should it always fall on the community to improve the game when Mojang falls short, anyway? 95% of the time that Mojang goofs up something, there are always several people who say "get a mod/resource pack or downgrade and shut up". It's Mojang's game, so why should we be the ones to repair those goofs?
Dinnerbone, Jeb, and the other coders at Mojang program games for a living, it shouldn't take an enormous amount of time for them to solve problems with their game correctly instead of using the first solution that comes to mind or the fastest solution (which apparently almost never fixes the problem). People complained about a lack of consistency and asked for the oaken and iron doors to receive 3D models and for the door sprites to look more like the original sprites. Instead, they threw together a bunch of sprites in maybe ten minutes and removed the models that almost no-one was complaining about (if people were complaining about the doors, they were complaining about the fact that they were different from the oaken door in ways beyond color).
At the very least, if they aren't going to add the models back in, I would retexture the acacia door so that it doesn't need depth to look good.

Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?
What's wrong with making the default pack look good?
Consistency and performance. If you make the doors 3D, then why not anything else. Grass? Leaves? Nether warts? Where do you stop? They never should have made the doors 3D like that in the first place. It sent the wrong impression of the direction of the game.
Mojang has a duty of providing a consistant gameplay. It is the fact that we can even mod the game that gives the the community the power to "improve" the game as we see fit. Mojang is providing their version of the game with their vision. We provide our own.

Multiplayer is lonely once you understand how it actually works.
[quote]Quote from Bacail»I see the revert more as of keeping the basic look of minecraft, so that Mojang only needs to support it at that level. Then keeping the more complicated 3d stuff for resource packs. Maybe they were just showing of what could be done. Or an oops, internally.
Okay, this is a stupid argument to make for one simple reason: this game is 3D and plenty of items in it are 3D models. Fences, Gates, Stairs, Anvils, etc. Adding depth to the doors does not make it less Minecrafty. It makes the doors less jarring to look at. Also, these doors were not "complicated" 3D models. Hell, the Anvil is more complicated than any of them.
Also, why does anyone think they would make the grass and flowers 3D in the default pack? Very few modern games make foliage 3D, and for good reason. There's so much of it. The only plants I could see being made 3D by default, and even this is a stretch, are the sugar canes and cacti. 3D doors will not lag your computer any more than stairs do.
Guy's, I think Mojang is getting lazy. They slop things together now. :/ I hope they don't keep it up like this, or they might lose a lot of good people.

EDIT:
Yes I like the idea of good on fancy graphics, bad on fast graphics.

They still look like crap
If you don't like them you can always use a resource pack.

EDIT: Somehow my quote got borked.
They'll lose users since it looks 2D?
