I like them taking their time. If they rush 1.8 then we will probably have several 1.8.X updates to fix bugs and a bunch of players yelling at Mojang to fix bugs. With all the snapshots, we can get the new content quickly if we want to, and we can give a stable version to those who want it.

I wish they would release an update that doesnt delete all items, frames, and player data from a world.. Save 1.8 for the new blocks/trading/enchantng/etc..
Items only get deleted if you play a snapshot then revert to 1.7, which is a very bad idea anyway.
I must say I'm a little bit disappointing, but they can't spend ALL this time on bugfixes, and rabbits and a new dungeon have been teased, so I'm excited and looking forward to what is added
They should just spend the next couple of weeks squashing as many bugs as possible, then release 1.8, then start working on 1.9. That way servers, a lot of mods, etc. can update to 1.8 while 1.9 is being waited on.

Mojan started to fail big time :-/ There is more and more people turning to modded Minecraft and leaving vanilla . They need to release 1.8 already and use 1.8.xxx updates to add stuff they want ... or just stop teasing us with snapshots of releas that would happan in God knows how many months / years from now . This is stupid thing to do from them if you ask me .
I can be patient. A mod API would be awesome! Modding would be a lot more easier!
Though it will come at the cost of less flexibility. Bytecode editing is more or less completely unrestricted, but a plugin interface may or may not give you full access to every single aspect of the game, it depends on how far Mojang will take it, and I think no matter how far they do take it, there will always be dark corners here and there that plugin devs want to touch but the interface doesn't go there.
Been waiting for 1.8 to start my world all over again... pity to wait longer, but I'd rather have them nail it. There are plenty of other games to play for now ;-)
Heh, we are probably going to have 14w25a/b before 1.8 lol. I missed another thing about this though.....I thought it was "Month" in the Title, not "Months" xD

I do. But the server I play on doesn't do snapshots.
I know that, but I updated to a snapshot before knowing this. I just want to play with the Shaders mod, but I cant use it on a snapshot server..

Why are people still whining about this?!

I was so excited...... *huffs* I guess I'll wait some mores.Constantly evolving, reaching further heights.
MogMiner made it pretty clear that they are not confirmed yet, it's just an experiment of his. We might see them in 1.8, or in 1.9, or not at all.
