Why pay for something that you can easily do for yourself through a little bit of Port-Forwarding. Most people could easily host a 2-5 player Server for free.
Not all computers can run a server and minecraft at the same time.
I remember reading somewhere that its a server that non- hosts can play on even when they're not online. Kinda like it is now, but you dont have to have the server application running. Correct me if i'm wrong.
I can't wait for this, I don't really want to poke through the tedious server setup (actually I tried, but even with tutorials, I couldn't do it.) and I just want a server for me and my friends and maybe a family member. But I hope there will be enough space so at least 20 people can join, I like having a deep social experience with my Minecraft servers, building stuff with other people and PVPing with your friends is the only way to enjoy Minecraft.
Ok, so I want to know, for instance, if I bought the month, and my month ran out, would I loose my map? Or would I just not be able to play on it? PLEASE REPLY lol
You won't be able to access your world, I'm pretty sure it'd dumb to delete the world when your subscription ended.

Not sure what you're talking about but i'm sure the realms will be hosted by Mojang, not your iDevice or Android device.

Having access to your own files is a HUGE must-have feature for almost any MC server.
agreed. I've been with server hosting sites in the past, and the last one costed me 2o dollars for three months. AND I had a bukkit server.
EDIT: It seems the Germans of http://minecraft-server.me/serverliste have hacked my account and posted this...
Second of all, the other hosting companies offer dedicated IPs, DDoS protection, and 24/7 uptime.
Third of all, you can get more player slots and more space with other hosters.
No, you can host your own server on your own computer with your own hardware.
