So, I’m working on a paper for one of my college classes, and it’d really help me if some of y’all could fill out this template and reply to this post with it so that I can have some data to analyze for it. You can choose to leave some questions blank if you want to, although fully filling out the template is preferred.
How old are you? You can give an age range if you don’t want to disclose your exact age.
What about Minecraft do you find appealing?
How has Minecraft influenced your life? What does it mean to you? Events, video series, servers, internet personalities, etc. that are associated with Minecraft also count here.
When and how did you first discover/encounter Minecraft?
Minecraft is a game that you can do anything you want. I was inspired by a friend of mine when he told me about Minecraft. One day i decided to buy it and it was really fun. I hope Minecraft will be still a popular game.
Why do I like it? because it is an otherworldly adventure that lets you collect resources and use them to build nearly anything you want, even wallpapers and pixelarts with maps if you're patient and talented enough, although maps weren't really meant for this.
Custom paintings would've been more appropriate for that if that were a feature, the concern here is people doing fan arts which are unfortunately from other people's copyrighted work, and could become a legal issue, so it's understandable why Mojang haven't made it easy to do this. Our opinion isn't going to matter here, although I don't agree with these restrictions so long as the fan is remembering to credit the original author of said work, and not taking credit or profiting off of other people's work, I don't see why this should be an issue, but it is.
You can bring friends in these worlds and fight monsters, go into the Nether to collect rare loot, and sometimes get a good laugh out of watching Piglin push each other off cliffs.
Also the game has some good music, original composer C418 but now Lena Raine.
Also if you play on a modded Minecraft server,
you have a lot more items to build with, more dimensions, more mobs etc.

I love how it is a game that can be played by anyone. It is practically immortal and is constantly updating, unlike other games like it that keep releasing spinoffs that are not only bad but are just money scams. It also helped me get through quarantine as it gave me something to do and think about.

Minecraft first influenced my life when. Over time, I grew out of TheAtlanticCraft and switched to BajanCanadian, then Denis (yes I got bored of Minecraft for a bit and almost went over to Roblox), and then finally Technoblade. All of these guys are super funny and don't swear.
When and how did you first discover/encounter Minecraft?
I was searching for the spinoff to How to Train Your Dragon. I eventually found a series by TheAtlanticCraft that looked cool so I clicked on it. I was amazed by this virtual world with all of its blocks and endless possbilities.
Minecraft is now more than a bucket of Lego, it's created a whole genre of sandbox games...
Why is Minecraft so popular? It's popularity is not, like some other modern games undeserved. There is so much to learn in this delightful box of sand, even after playing the game for all this time, every time I play I feel like I've found something new and exciting! Maybe it's a fossil, perhaps I'm just building, Minecrafts truly special because everything in it feels like a grand adventure.
and that's why I think it's so popular for people of all ages, and I think Minecraft is more than a passing trend!

Yup. Minecraft proved itself to be way more than a passing trend when it regained popularity in 2018. Now, with player counts on servers surging, it looks like this beloved sandbox game is here to stay.
There is simply no support for any such claim in the official player count statistics - the game has only steadily grown since at least 2016 (the earliest date shown) with little year-year variation (mind that the chart skips 2019 since Mojang doesn't consistently release player counts). Also, some people claim that the game lost popularity in 2018, so they can't even agree on the exact years the game "died" and "resurged". Fact is, the claim that the game was "dying", which was quite popular here a few years back, probably referred to the decline of these forums, which have been declining since 2012, even as the game now has at least 10 times more players).
I am 13 and I find minecraft to be a stress reliver of sorts, its easy to wind down on a rainy day and play minecraft, I find the survival aspect to be most appealing, and minecraft means a lot to me and was a big influencer to me I used to watch all the classics (eg dantdm, stampy, ect) I first discovered minecraft via youtube and i feel like most people did at least back then.
That you can build, mine, fight other mobs, download mods, texture packs, etc. It just seems fun to me.

Minecraft has influenced me to make videos of gameplay, mod showcases (w/o voiceover), and performance videos.
When and how did you first discover/encounter Minecraft?
When I was at my cousin's house, I saw him play the TU1 Minecraft Xbox 360 demo back in early or mid 2013. And I had a demo as well on my Xbox 360. So in May 2013, I was playing the Minecraft demo. I was just jumping around, punching cows, and just digging a tunnel to a mine. I really didn't know how to play the game at age 5. But when I was at my dad's house in June 2014, I saw that we had texture packs on it. For a second I thought texture packs were mods (please don't hate me. I didn't know how to play the game) So I had a lot of fun building houses. I built bad houses though. And I saw DanTDM, PopularMMOs and Logdotzip doing mod showcases, And I loved those videos and couldn't stop watching them. That was what I did most of my free time.
But in early 2014, My stepparents had MCPE (Now known as Minecraft Bedrock Edition) on the tablet. So I was playing on it, Exploding some TNT, spawning mobs, etc. On October 2015, I had good grades in 2nd grade, so my mom bought me Minecraft Xbox 360 edition. The disc broke though. But I got another one on Christmas 2016. At first I was getting bored. But I got my brother's Xbox 360 on Jan 2017. And The latest version was TU48. And there where Prismarine, Coarse Dirt, End Stone Bricks, etc. I thought all of those items were added in that one update. But I got introduced to Title Updates. For some reason, I used to write them on a piece of paper and just leave it there. Also I got introduced to Command Blocks. And I couldn't get them on Xbox 360. Even If i did, they wouldn't function whatsoever. But on MCPE back in mid 2017, They were functional. On December 21st, 2019, I got my brother's phone and played MCPE on that. On the latest version I got 30-45 fps. But older versions, 60fps.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
