I am in a smp with some of my friends and when we go to the nether and come back, instead of using the nether portal at our base, the game creates a random new portal in a generalized area. We've tried breaking them to see if it helps as shown in the picture but to no avail. How can we fix this?
If you build a portal in the Nether at the coordinates that correspond to the one in your base (divide the X and Z coordinates of the base portal by 8 and keep Y the same.) that should connect to the base portal. (Unless there's some sort of glitch.)

On the bright side, free obsidian! Try going back through the newly generated portal, to see if you come out in a different location. I despise the linking function of nether portals, so you may have to do a little shuffling around with all the portal paths.

Same issue with a new world?
wdym? we can't just start a new world, we've been playing for a while and don't want to just wipe it.
Just to make sure there is no issue with your server itself:

Just testing.
