That first line is ultimately the main dilemna of all of civilization. If nobody owes anyone anything, law of the jungle persists. If everyone owes everyone, is there any time left for oneself?
That drained your ego? If anything I think it should boost it, I'm impressed with how maturely you responded. You make a good point.
Humans being drawn to war is because people with a lack of empathy are better able to manipulate and lead due to lacking empathy.
Average people do not want war if they are fed and happy.
In any case, I don't feel attacked that much. It's okay.
Interesting details on the pickaxes although I would never get far enough to use beacons in regular mining. Differences seem small but may be relevant to some people.
Piglins are definitely useful and I only wish brutes were not in bastions, or that hitting them would not anger normal piglins. It seems pointless to me to have piglins be neutralized when brutes exist as they are.
Minecraft is plenty of escapism in that regard, the real world is so broken I'm not sure if it will improve. But scientists are continuously working on solutions to improve mankind, unfortunately the elites and their obsession with gaining obscene amount of wealth gets in the way of progress.
Anyway glad you 2 are not being rude to each other.
Back to the topic. I do wish attacking Piglin brutes wouldn't trigger an assault from other Piglin's, considering it is the brutes who started the fight why should the other Piglin feel sorry for them? the weird contradiction of Piglin is they are willing to barter with you until you either open a chest you placed on the ground, or if you attack a brute who picked a fight with you. The Piglin mechanics are stupid, really the only good things that came from the nether update is the new biomes and the trades like soul speed enchantment, which to be honest isn't all that valuable, not to me anyway, because I don't spend a whole lot of time in the nether so it isn't worth my time using it, remove the soul sand, which you would likely do if you did a lot of Wither boss farming, something I intend to do on 1 of my 2 current survival worlds, suddenly you lose the benefits of soul speed if there isn't a lot of soul sand around to run on., on top of this, it is only 1 block the enchantment works for.

You think that's weird?
If the Wiki is correct they will stop an attack to barter and continue attacking after they've bartered.
They must REALLY like gold.
Do the normal piglin wait to attack until you hit the brute or do they attack when the brute detects you and gets hostile?
Do the normal piglin wait to attack until you hit the brute or do they attack when the brute detects you and gets hostile?
And? the point is they become hostile after the brute notices you and attacks you, forcing you to either hit back or run away.
What reason do they have to side with the brutes who initiated the confrontation? unless they too were amoral savages?
Considering we don't even know what alignment the Piglin are supposed to be on the morality spectrum, it is bad game design, pure and simple.
Piglin aren't even in the same class as monsters like say Ghast or Creepers, who are evidently legion of the darkness.
if the Piglin were monsters they'd be hostile outright, not mostly neutral mobs willing to trade with you until they see you trying to steal gold from their mines and what not.
I tend to avoid playing on the snapshots, waiting until the final updates so I have no experience with brutes.
(Except for a brief test in Creative mode to answer somebody who was worried that they wouldn't spawn in new chunks in an old world.)
My first paragraph was me agreeing with you.
I wasn't saying that they weren't weird, I was saying that they were even weirder than your example suggested.
But actually, having thought about it a bit more, they _are_ amoral savages who are hostile outright, unless you are wearing gold.
Maybe they are basically hostile to any strangers, but nearsighted and assume that anybody wearing gold is one of them?
Like how wearing some mob heads can make it harder for that mob to recognize you.
Maybe they are basically hostile but that is tempered by their admiration of your gold armor, but not to the point that they'll tolerate you stealing their gold?
Or maybe they don't discriminate against non piglins but they worship gold and consider anybody, presumably even a piglin, who doesn't wear gold to be a dirty heathen who needs to be exterminated?
I guess that it's really only the first case that would explain their change in attitude when the brutes attack you.
Unless it is you hitting back at a fellow piglin (the brute) that triggers their attack, blood is thicker than water.
Or maybe they personally don't mind fraternizing with the enemy, as long as they're wearing gold, but the brutes are something like officers or members of the ruling class or just really bad tempered and the normal piglins know that they'll be in trouble if they don't join in the attack with the appropriate level of enthusiasm?
Or maybe they just enjoy a good fight and are always ready to join in at the drop of a hat?

If you feel like that is because you feel the need to understand things better, in this case minecraft, I am like that too and i have put in hours to learn about the game and than find ways to apply the knowledge efficently, however there is plenty of people that don't care at all about that side of the game, so nobody is stopping you from going around and mining your iron, getting random enchantmens from the enchantment table etc. but if you don't enjoy that than just take the problems 1 at a time, like try to build a library with all the enchantments in an efficent, consistent and struggle free way for example. You will need to google stuff and post a few posts for more specific things, but it will be worth it in the end.
"the player may create a game profile of their own in the launcher. In order to do so, they must click on the "Installations" button, then click "New..." to create one. After this, the player can name their profile as they want it. If the player leaves it, it is named "<unnamed installation>". Then, optionally, the player can select a profile picture from the launcher or a custom one. However, it must be a 128×128 .png picture. After, the player can select the version they wish to play, and click "Create" to confirm their profile. If the player wants to edit a profile, they can just click it. The same applies if the player wishes to delete a profile. Simply click the three dots button and press Delete. A popup appears; press Delete."
"If the player wants to change the .minecraft file path, they can turn on the "Game directory" option. Now, navigate to the folder where the player wishes to relocate the .minecraft folder. The player can also open the Minecraft profile by clicking the green arrow-shaped "Go to folder" button."

This game really is a constant struggle eh? I find it more enjoyable to do things I already know (but not too well) than brand new things at this point with how fast content is coming out. I still don't know how to use all the mechanics from some versions - leads only came into play for me because 1.14 has trader llamas drop them - I never bother with fighting slimes so I had no way to craft them, but they save time massively on collecting animals.
How do you go about playing the old versions? I need a seed for my friends and I but we all prefer the older minecraft
How old? According to TMC and some pals on Discord, any version before 1.6 requires some extra steps. You have to make a new installation with its directory pointing to the folder for the specific version (which you need to download separately and then move into the Versions folder in Minecraft).

You don't need to separately download anything; the launcher has all release versions back to 1.0.0, and even older (Alpha, Beta) if you enable "historical versions". Also, versions prior to 1.6 were not written to recognize non-default directories (other than %appdata%\.minecraft, see this bug report) so you need to run them in the default directory and use custom directories for newer versions (making sure you delete options.txt from the .minecraft folder, which is the file that causes all the issues).

No, I just tested Alpha rd-132211.
All I had to do was choose it in the launcher (you need a checkmark in the "Historical" box to see anything before release 1.0), I always use a new directory for each version.
It had a very small world, 256X256 ?
There didn't seem to be much to do except run around and place bedrock blocks (not even break blocks as far as I could tell).
But there was a lovely animated moire effect on the bedrock bottom when I ran off the edge.
--
I guess it wasn't as small as I thought, it just spawned me close to the corner the first time.
And TheMasterCaver is right about the directory, I input a different directory in the launcher but it changed it to .minecraft

What do you mean, a moire effect? And alright, thank you for the advice.
I like the new updates. But this is coming from someone who plays Minecraft not as frequently as others would, but it has given me a lot of things to try out and experiment with. I was so surprised that you could make shields! With the addition of more mobs and resources introduced into the Nether, makes it less boring to explore.
I've backtracked to the Beta versions, 1.7 etc and they are all pretty lacking in my opinion (to be expected from a Beta, of course).

You are a highly based individual.
I agree the mechanics need some rethinking.
Wiki says they wait until you hit back.
Also yes piglins (normal ones) are extremely aurophilic.
I have no response to the rest of the thread because I am confused about who Jschlatt is and who copied who

You can change the version in the launcher.

I strongly suggest using different folders for different versions to avoid opening a world in the wrong version, that often leads to world corruption.
If you want really old versions make sure you put a check in the "Historical" checkbox for versions on the Installations screen of the launcher.
(That's assuming you are playing the Java version, otherwise you should ask in the appropriate section of the forums.)
Just testing.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
