I formally suggest that Minecraft similar to what blizzard did with World of Warcraft implement a game that's consisted of the vanilla version of Minecraft
Maybe they mean a version without all the recent updates, especially since 1.8, which some people do think makes the game feel modded or otherwise very different from what they used to play; I myself get the impression that they are playing on a heavily modded game when I see somebody playing on a current version, with only a slight resemblance to the game I play on, even my own modded versions (I still play on 1.6.4, which could be what they mean by "classic", and even then some feel that horses don't fit in the game).
Of course, you posted this in the Java discussion section - the edition that allows you to play any version you want, completely nullifying any reason to release a "classic" version when you can even play the original "classic", even so far back that there wasn't much more than grass and cobblestone.

You can get the vanilla version of minecraft here: minecraft.net/download
Uhh, isn't 'vanilla' simply unmodded minecraft, regardless of version? I assume you're referring to this: https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Java_Edition_Classic

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
