firstly sorry if this is in the wrong location, the tools group seems to be more for posting your tools then getting help
I have a free play server (survival, no goals etc) and I have had a few players go out super far in the nether, then jump back into the overworld to make their base
I have a map which i render just for my personal use to see how far players are going and see what they are up to
The problem is when I render my map, i have big areas of no chunks (as expected) so its a little hard to find if there are bases further out
Im not sure if im able to keep scrolling out by dragging the screen to infinite, or if there is just a base way out that way which im never going to be able to find by just mouse searching
Is there a way to indicate or find, if there is more chunks rendered off screen, either in a given direction or some script i can run which would help with this?
And yes I have already post on the overviewer forums as well, just spreading my hunt to see if anyone else has any ideas as their community is alot smaller and not as fast as replying
In world files, under region, you got files named like r.X.Z.mca (i.e. r.-2.5.mca)
These represent 32-chunk-squared sectors (512x512 blocks each) Roughly, first number represents X coordinate and second number is Z coordinate.
MC will only create those files for areas actually generated.
So you wanna look for outlier files. Say, most of your mca files have both numbers within -10..+10 range, but there is a file like r.22.-34.mca This means that you should be seeing something roughly at X 11300, Z -17400 (22 x 512, -34 x 512)
Your other option, of course, it to render a map of the nether - it should have 'tendrils' of generated terrain showing where those players went.
Iv been using the region method, but it is a bit tedious haha
Id also do the nether method, but my last render took 40 something hours to process (my world is about 190GB and growing)
so rendering the nether would take another 2 days or so
