I was just wondering, is it possible to kill the Ender Dragon (starting with no resources in standard survival) without ever going to the Nether? Since eyes of ender are required to activate the portal, which require blaze rods, it doesn't seem feasible to me. I have thought about this, and I cannot think of any way in which you could possibly do this, but does anyone else have any ideas?
Besides playing an earlier version the only thing I can think of would be using cheats to obtain Eyes of Ender, Blaze Rods/Powder or an End Portal or Summoning a villager with a custom trade.
Of course, none of these options would be available on a server without permissions.
Why?
If this is for a custom world with no Nether access or something like that I'd say using cheats would be justified, you could pretend that the Eyes of Ender were in the starter chest.
1 in a trillion seeds has all 12 ender eyes in a stronghold.
This would be one in 7.8125 billion seeds since each one has 128 strongholds and with rare exception all of them will be intact (certain features, such as fossils, can overwrite end portals. Even then, approaching the stronghold from a different direction can make it not happen due to the order chunks are generated in affecting the overlap among features). That said, I've only seen a few such seeds, all for older versions, though there is no reason why they can't happen in the latest versions (in fact, in 1.9 Mojang made it so they will be activated if they generate with all eyes present, which would make them useless in older versions).

I suppose it would be possible by downloading a mod where you can uncraft items. You can find brewing stands in villages and if you uncraft the brewing stand, you get a blaze rod. Enderman can be found in the overworld so yea. With a mod, it would be possible.

I believe the OP means without modding the game. If mods are involved then there are an infinite number of ways to do this because you could come up with whatever way you want to do it and then make a mod that allows it.

Nether is a highly integral and beneficial part of Minecraft.
It is not just about the Ender Dragon.
No blaze powder or Netherwart = no potion brewing.
No quartz = no observers or comparators.
No beacons.
No soul sand for super fast bubble elevators.
No 8x accelerated transportation.
I know the nether is a huge part of the game, but the OG’s question was can you kill the ender dragon WITHOUT going to the nether. I dunno maybe you can go to the nether after the fight, the question was just can you beat the game without going to the nether.

I actually don't value any of that stuff personally, I like the game for adventuring so that's why I bother with the other dimensions, else I'd just stay in a village the whole game.

Prior to 1.9 you could buy eyes of ender from clerics, so no, but also yes.
Stay fluffy~

Just testing.

True.
So, in principle yes, it IS possible but not on just any world.
Just testing.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

You can also tell your friend to go to the nether without you going
Just switch to Peaceful and then change to Normal after setting up a Blaze farm
But you’re still going to the nether, which is what we’re trying to avoid here.
Well, subtract the mobs and the Nether is a lot less of a pain to be honest.
Umm, WHY?
