How do i have the 'new and improved' optifine and still have mods?
I remember when i could install a mod and shader and it would 'just work' TOO EASY, but Optifine made it easier.. now you just drop a zip file n hey presto!! if anything it's seems optifine just pushed all the stuff off their table onto the modders lap n said hey, not my problem.
Instead of things being simplified there's a new set of hoops to jump through, so, forge? i can't run that if i want to run shaders.. so no mods..
Rant over, how to deal with the new set of problems created? ( i guess i wasn't )
How do i have mods running and shaders at the same time? thanks
P.S: with so many!! versions!! out there how can ya even tell if what they said is actually right..
I'm pretty sure Optifine itself is considered a mod, so you can just easily install Forge and put it in the mods folder. Unfortunately, as far as I know, it's not designed for many mods in mind so rendering issues are going to be abound with it installed.
Way back when i never had the issue with it, thanks for the reply.
i don't think version 1.15 is supported with forge yet, so i rolled back forge to 1.14.4 as with optifine but i don't even get mods showing up, it's rapidly becoming not worth it, already wasted half a day on this
Those versions compatible with Forge can run on modded minecraft, each mod should (but rarely does) tell which features of optifine are incompatible because it manipulates visually blocks and so on... sometimes is just disabling optimized chunk rendering in OF, sometimes it needs a deeper fiddling...
Modern versions of Optifine are not directly compatible with Forge, however there's another mod called Optiforge which is supposed to bridge the gap. I heard it just dropped in the past few days, and I've heard there are some problems with it randomly crashing.

That's not correct. Stable Optifine versions are compatible with Forge if it's said so in the Changelog.
- OptiFine 1.14.4_HD_U_F5 (compatible with Forge 28.1.56)
- OptiFine 1.14.4_HD_U_F4 (compatible with Forge 28.1.56)
- OptiFine 1.14.4_HD_U_F2 (not compatible with Forge)
- [....]
- OptiFine 1.13.2_HD_U_E8 (internally compatible with Forge 25.0.90 (can't be installed yet))

- OptiFine 1.12.2_HD_U_E2 (compatible with Forge #2729)

Do you need help or are you here to rant about a mod, eventhough the mod creator won't even see it instead of complaining directly at him?
Optifine is optimized for Vanilla.
