*I would put all this stuff into a single downloadable folder but I don't want to anger any of tthe original creators so I will just give a link to the download sites of the mods/resource packs
Please note that I did not create these resource packs or mods and I have merely compiled them. Due credit goes to all original creators.
This is a compilation of the resource packs and mods I use to induce beta/late alpha vibes for 1.14.4
Beta+
This is a simple mod that brings back old Beta and Alpha world generation. This new biomes and structures are (almost) fully implemented, while overlaying them onto beta or alpha world generation (I have found a few swamp mountains). This mod has Biomes o' Plenty support. Mushroom islands are not generated, and don't forget to set your world type to beta+ or alpha+.
EDIT: Terrain generation is not 100% accurate, biome features such as trees and generated structures are different. Modern caves are also generated. However old cave generation can be enabled in the world generation screen.
When paired with the resource pack "classic alternative" the old greyscale lighting will be implemented. Its also just good to have around:P
When downloaded unzip the folder and take out the .jar file with MOD at the end, this file can then be installed normally as you would with any other forge mod. The other stuff is for installing the mod without forge and can be discarded.
Most of this resource packs features are redundant because of Classic Alternative, however it brings back the old grass color map which non of the other addons do.
All mods and resource packs can be installed as you normally would, there are countless guides online so I will not explain that part of it. However to achieve a good result your resource packs should be ordered like this
1 (top): No Tall grass
2: Golden Days
3: Classic Alternative
4: mod resources
5: programmer art
6 (bottom):default
Thats all, hopefully this is helpful if you would like to make 1.14.4 feel a bit more like beta.
Not even close - cave generation was severely nerfed in release 1.7 after having been essentially unchanged since at least Beta 1.1_02, based on code I recently found online which closely matches that for 1.6.4 (aside from a bugfix (the same as MC-7196) which fixed cut-off caves and a chance of larger tunnels, the latter added sometime before Beta 1.7.3; aside from this, they won't generate in the same configurations due to changes in how the RNG is set, similar to changes in 1.13). This also means that seeds like 404 will not work.
(as you may guess, I consider the underground to be the most important part of a game originally named Cave Game, and currently "Mine"craft - I never even updated past 1.6.4 in part due to the aforementioned changes. More ideally, a mod like this (for a newer version) would be included so they can be customized however you want)

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
Ok, thanks for pointing that out. I have fixed that
