Hey,
So I've been playing Trog's Skyblock 4. I built a hostile mob spawner and it worked prefectly fine. I also built a huge ground( with grass blocks ) for passive mobs to spawn( well lit place ). In the begining, animals spawned( a pig, 2 chickens, a sheep and a cow ), I bred the chickens, killed the pig and the cow, not on purpose and the sheep is still there.
Now, I don't see any passive mobs spawning there, the place where they first spawned. For that I used all my dirt blocks to build a new place and let the grass to spread. Even after all the dirt blocks became well-lit grass blocks now, they don't seem to spawn at all.
If you can settle for 5 types of animals plus chickens then I'd suggest collecting eggs until you have enough to be certain that you'll get at least 2 chickens from them, then kill the chickens.
Then wait until 2 of each of the 5 kinds you want have spawned, killing any extras.
Then you can throw eggs until you have at least 2 chickens and start breeding.
If you want all the animal types you need to move some far enough away from your spawning platform that you can find a place where the spawning platform is within loaded chunks but the moved animals are further away from you.
I'm not quite sure how far out animals are counted in the mob cap, you could try going at least 8 chunks (128 blocks) away from them.
(That's outside a square that's 256 blocks on a side so the corners are 128 block diagonals from you. )

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.
The mob cap for passive mobs is very low, 10 mobs I believe.

Just testing.
