I'm a pretty thicc noob when it comes to how dimensions work in Minecraft, and I just recently found out that the playsounds you have in the overworld, also play in the nether and end. Is there anyway to stop this from happening?
Playsound has parameters that allow you to target who can hear the sound and what type of sound it is...
Wiki might explain clearly

I got into chiptune music composition.
You can listen to them on my Youtube channel : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjWYbJGk7nvNDbnCvMlZGkw
Descriptions are in french, you'd just need some google translation copy-paste...
Also made some more or less complicated datapacks, shared here (planetminecraft).
What I'm doing is using playsounds in the overworld for things like fountains and waterfalls, and I can also hear those same sounds in the nether at the same coordinates. I'm using command blocks for the sounds.
Yeah, sharing your command might be helpful to find a solution...

How are you playing them?
If it's in a command block in single player, I'd expect it to become unloaded in when you go to the Nether.
Just testing.
I am just using a normal playsound in single player, which is why I'm confused.
You mean as a command in chat?
Why not just not play sounds you don't want?
Sorry if I'm confused but if you tell Minecraft to play a rain sound it's going to do that, the sound has nothing to do with actual rain.
Just testing.

Are you in single player or on a server?
Do you have any mechanism for keeping the command blocks active while you are in the Nether?
Are you targeting players that are close enough to the coordinates or just constantly playing the sounds at those coordinates?
Can you paste in a couple of examples of the commands you are using?
Just testing.
