Recently got into this game. Maybe it's too early for me to make a comment on the game mechanics, still learning a lot so please don't take it as me whining. I just really question some of the things that goes on here lol. I'm finding the game to be a too much of a grind in survival mode for my taste. I really enjoy building but it takes quite a lot of resources. I was hoping to automate some of the farms but I keep coming across obstacles. Are there any mods for the bedrock edition out there that could help out with automation or even add more flavor?
So originally, I thought I would be acquiring most of the stuff in mass quantities such as iron, gold, stones etc through trading once I get the ball rolling... But the villagers only let me trade so much at a time and I don't think I can actually trade FOR some of those items. I found out you can breed villagers which is cool, but as for transport it can be a bit tedious. I did look up iron farms and all of them deal with iron golems and knowing how they spawn. I did notice the mob spawner item in creative, learned that you can find them in dungeons and I thought perfect! yet I can't take it with me!? The impression that I get is that it seems like the player has to know the internal mechanics of mob spawns for most of the stuff. Then it creates this restrictions for creating contraptions to where I don't think I like at this point.. Not sure if I can automate chopping wood or stones which is disappointing, same with most of the resources out there. Then redstone and it's restrictions + trying to make it look pretty when all said and done. I'm all over the place, sorry. There's a lot more to it than that but I'm just ranting at this point.
I see what you mean. For Bedrock though I'm not sure... I've looked a few times but unlike mods Bedrock's (and Java's) behaviour packs/datapacks only go so far, it's why you see tool or tweak like stuff from them but otherwise I've some across a few machine like ones for Java but not yet Bedrock.
There might be something that can automate wood/ores but I don't know. In what way are you looking to automatic though? I assume you mean like a block (some people refer to these as fake players) that harvests it for you or a quarry.
I'll take a look but many bedrock behaviour packs to take a look at come from here: https://mcpedl.com/?cookie_check=1 (mostly recommended for Pocket Edition IOS and Android or Windows 10 rather than console like Switch or Xbox One) it can be dodgey sometimes though with ad site redirects (putting their content behind a wall) but I don't know many others like a bedrock content place like Curseforge or Planetminecraft where it's big, safely checked by staff and so on. Most people recommend the site I posted compared to others. And making them accessible to all through a console or other versions with a menu isn't possible yet as these are still a Work In Progress/Beta at the moment as far as I know. I only sometimes check out Bedrock but I'm mostly a Java Mod Player.

I wonder if it's any harder to make mods for the bedrock edition compared to java, or if Java is just simply more popular. I may have to look into modding it myself. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.
For the wood example, breaking the block without losing resources. Tried tnt but it seems to destroy them. Another thing is planting seeds automatically without the need of villagers. Or expand trading. I probably put too much emphasis on automation part. The gist is; for most basic resources out there like iron, redstone, string etc - I would like to have the ability to upgrade my base so I can gather them reliably at some point without having to go on a search. Without needing to know the technicalities how the game spawn mobs or things. Cause as the game goes on, it's not that fun trying to get these things by hand. I rather have my explorations set out for rare or unique items I can't craft myself.
Behaviour packs and Datapacks are the same type of thing and require less than modding does (programming a bit for each and playing with many created by others), at least from my experience with trying both out even though I've gotten into modding more (it's been around longer and the support is more clear to me how it works while datapacks/behaviour packs seem like commands with a few tweaks, mods are actual programming with many it's own sort of uniqueness depending on what is involved) than datapacks/behaviour packs. While I have experience with commands and programming the limitations/particular nature/simplicity of datapacks just didn't feel right to me.
Either way as Java Edition modding has been around for many years (even before the game released, so in beta which was 2010 or so I think) and Bedrock was console first before being Console, Windows 10 and Pocket/Mobile all into one group/brand and Behaviour Packs/Datapacks have only been a thing in the last year so they differ in what is possible, but I've been surprised so who knows (I've been doing spotlights on datapacks and mods for a year so).
For wood I'd say look for a block that is positioned next to a tree/crops that breaks it (either if you have an axe/hoe or it just does it's job on it's own, maybe some coal used for balancing if they do that besides Redstone).
(Examples from my experience and what I assume you might be after with the blocks that do the job).
I'd assume you'd want something like those that are simple, fit a size of harvesting, and maybe fuel to balance use of it, otherwise the only thing you need to do is either have a chest or a hopper/dropper/dispenser system to move things (I don't know many bedrock alternatives for sorting systems compared to Java datapacks/mods but there might be some, otherwise you'd have to use redstone and other blocks to get that to work), where it does the job and you get access to the inventory, only with datapack/behaviour packs you'd be relying on hoppers or dispensers/droppers along with redstone logic for transporting it out mostly which are part of the game obviously.
If there isn't many behaviour packs that do this you'd just have to go with tutorials surrounding Redstone, hoppers, dispensers/droppers and pistons/sticky pistions to get the job done. They do work but I wouldn't know many or even how to pull them off. But yes when it comes to mining it's not so easy to do that without considering mobs (at least in iron's case, I don't know much about other ores and how people get those working), but for trees/crops it is more achievable I'd say.

No problem.

The closest I'd say I've experienced with Java datapacks is CraftTech here: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/customization/crafttech-machines or in a mod way something like Progressive Automation: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/progressive-automation-early-miner as they have machines that focus on automation jobs for trees and crops, mining ores in a set radius and you just put coal into them.

Otherwise as someone that plays automation mods a lot I know the feeling of how tedious going on a search is.
